Tennis Elbow

G'day all, I've been plagued with this bloody tennis elbow for probably the last 4 months and it's beginning to drive me nuts. I've already got an elastic arm thingy for my elbow and some sort of magic cream from a place online, but not much has happened yet in the way of of making it feel better. I tried for a fish with it, but cant get the grasp on the reel properly, let alone getting a fish in on it. So I was curious to see what others have done.

Cheers
Dale

I suffer from Arthritis in a lot of my joints and I take Mobic every night. It is an anti-inflammatory drug that can be taken over a long period of time.
Another thing you could try are cortisone injections, they are not a cure but can help you get on with your life without as much pain. Go and have chat with your doctor and see what he has to say. If it's starting to affect your fishing it's time to get it looked at!!

Hold your can in the other hand, that way you'll give the crook one a bit of R+R.

One of my aunties suffered from arthritis and used to swear by eating vegemite a couple of times each day, don't know if it stopped the pain but she'd complain the next day if she missed taking it the day before.

Good quality Fish oil tablets can sometimes work, they are a natural anti inflamitary and good for the ticker, only problem is you need about 8 tabs/day

Dale I used to suffer with cronic tennis elbow. Until I visited a doc with a few brains and told me to get into a habit of lifting things the opposite way IE: instead of lifting with your palm up lift withit facing down.Sounds a bit simple and maybe a bit silly but it worked bloody wonders with my elbow. But now I have developed cronic pain in my thumb joint and not sure if it's arthritis or RSI from using a 5" grinder all day, another visit to the doc on the cards.

I had it bad after rendering

Mon, 2010-09-06 06:04

I had it bad after rendering part of my house.  It stuck around for months.  Physio, doc couldn't fix it.  In the end, I just rested it as much as I could and it eventually dissapeared.  Sea-kem has it right though.  You just have to use that arm differently so you're not putting stress on the part that's hurting you.  Good Luck.

I had accupuncture but it didn't really help.  Just kept costing me money to have even more pain inflicted on myself!

Mon, 2010-09-06 09:51

i used to get quite bad tennis elbow when i was playing rugby, but was just told by the doctor to do weights to strengthen my forearms and havent really had a problem since...its only played up after big arm-wrestles - but that's mainly self-inflicted! :P
