LOL Pete, c'mon mate, your trying to get a posse together to win the FeNaCLNG comp and you are asking these questions? With your 30 years experience, just use the sounder down there the same you used yours up here.

Let the machine show you what is down there. If you aren't sure, don the gear and jump in, dive down and see the structure the sounder is seeing. Same as here. Obviously no good over 20m or so, but you know how it works.

good luck, see you in August

The software that shows fish icons can be fooled easily, all of the experts say don't use them.

I use fish ID religilously

I use fish ID religilously and have now upgraded with an extra module that tells you what bait to use and if they are feeding. Next step is to hook it directly to my two electric reels, each with different bait pre rigged, which should enable me to automatically drop to the correct depth with the right bait without getting out of the Captains chair.

If I could only work out how to hook in my GPS and autopilot, I could stay home and avoid the hassle of the hunt altogether.

No fish ID!!!!!!

Like everyone - fish ID off.

I do turn it one when anchored up just for fun!

Keeps the Mrs entertained because she cant read the arches, but loves to see the "little" fish icons under the boat. LOL

Everything I have read / watched says leave it switched off.  You lose too much interpretable data.
