Tips on Sp's plz

 Hiya guys,

Just after some tips on the use of soft plastic from landbased.

What size jig heads and Plastics shld i stick to from the shore. The gear i use is a light rod with 9lb mono.  Do i attach a leader, if so how lol.  Im not to sure on the retrival but recently ive been doing a slow wind with a rod flick every now and again.  Seems to work a little but i wanna kno any other ways.  I mainly fish in the marinas or off the beach at Quinns so if beach fishin i normally go bait or a popper (no luck on popper yet).

Also i have seen Sp's in shape of a crab how the hell u rig that 1 up worm, grub and minnow seem easy enough but the other good looking 1's seem alot of trouble getting right.

Thanks for any info u may give,  Appreciate it.

Hi mate, if your using mono

Hi mate, if your using mono you dont really need a leader at 9lb, its more for braid to give a bit of stretch to it as there is none in braid. I alwyas like to go as light as possible with the jigheads, light enough to get a decent cast anyway. The idea behind that is so it sinks slowly to give the fish plenty of time to see it...eat it, although as everything depends on conditions. I like to let it sink then lift of the bottom at a medium pace then sink then maybe lift and lift then sink, just vary to see what the fish are hitting...that includes colours and size/shape. I personally like the paddletails as they give off a bit of vibration too.
The crabs can be rigged with a different style jighead, its J shaped with a right angled bend on the top going to the eye with the lead between that right angle and the start of the bend, confusing but you will see what i mean when you have a look at the jigheads at the shop. They can tuck under the body of the crab with the hook coming out like a leg on the crab and dynamite on the spangos and baldies up north on the last trip just queitly.
Hope it helps but im sure there is better info from other guys on here. Try Brenz at The fishing Shop in woodvale when he gets back from exy think next week he will tell you heaps

Hey mate, I bought some of those crabby sp's.  threw a couple out from cott groyne on a home made rig, like a light paternoster i think. They were getting destroyed, but no hooks ups.... could not figure out how to rig them! About to give up and finally hooked something. A bloody big wrasse.... oh well, better then nothing. Smililar to what spook said, I tried using a very small hook and only just poking it out like one of its legs.
