Submitted by Jc85 on Mon, 2012-09-17 16:13
Hi guys
recently had my transducers wet faced installed in a fibreglass seaswirl striper..
boat has twin outboards, and was advised this was the best way to do it.
heres some pics of how it came out

Yep im scotty it does not
Yep im with scotty it does not look any where near flush with the hull which equals airation hopefully we are wrong. Why did they use a piece of metal why not make a mould and glass straight into hull?. Is it aiming directly down it looks from the photo to be on the angle of the deadrise of the hull?.

yes i am running a 585..
it is at the bottom of the hull and is flat. looks like its not from the photo
person who did it does lots of big boats and lots of these install..
he used a piece of stainless because the trandusers have lip that they need to sit in..
have no problem reading the ground at any speed.

In the big boats it isn't
In the big boats it isn't unusual to have the transducer and plate proud of the rest of the hull. I know of some cat owners that did the same thing to get a good reading in their cat.
Looking forward to seeing some pics!

If its flush you should be
If its flush you should be fine , JC shipwrights make a mould of the tranny out of glass and then glass that into the hull then flowcoat over the whole lot. The lip of the tranny sits inside the tranny mould as its not good to use wet resin straight on the rubber of the tranny. It just negates using screws on the bottom but if you are happy with it and it reads good then thats all you need from a transducer.
What kind of transducers did you install they look like a good size
