Im not a fan of three ways ( swivels that is !!) .. maybe ok on very heavy gear for bottom fishing but no good in the surf, the line wraps around them and weakens the line IMO.
tri crane swivels really do make a difference. It allows the hook to swing around on the paternoster, reducing line tangles. I only use tri cranes for paternosters!

they are better than three way swivels! used for the same purpose!
