Tuna Stick Bait rod Suggestion
Submitted by Karak on Tue, 2016-05-03 22:42
Hi all,
I am looking into purchasing a tuna stickbait rod.
was looking into the carpenter, ripplefisher, temple reef and even FCL Labo.
Is the Temple reef" Reefer" 7'11 quite flexible in the tip?
Open to suggestions though.
I will be primarily be using stickbaits or might change to poppers given the situation.
Thank you.

Grapplers
Shimano Grapplers 73ML are not a bad cheapish alternative with a bit of stopping power

The Yamaga Blacky series is worth considering, I went for an 81/8 for an upcoming trip.
Compleat Angler stock them, worth stopping past there to discuss with the guys there.

Landbased or boat?
I have a Temple Reef reefer 8'5 and love it, medium fast taper which suits me and my casting style. Bear in mind the reefer has now ceased production. THe temple reef black devil 100 and 200 are the tuna specific blanks i believe.
If land based and casting 100m + is the target then look at the NS black hole cape cod special (10'6) or Assassin Sierra. I have the latter simply because I could try it out locally.
