I also caught 2 50cm + ones last night from northern metro and will go try with the lures after work when I get home cause there was a lot more out there attacking baitfish. Good to see that there is still a few big ones around in metro.

I have trouble believing also. I was up there...

In one instance they caught them in the morning and the next I heard they were in the evening. The story also is that they caught the 4kg monsters on small gear with 10lb braid in a storm. I've never heard of fish like that being stopped on that sort of gear from the shore in a big sea let alone landed. Oh well, maybe I am just too much of a sceptic these days.

Based on what's going on up there at the moment and the type of people I hardly believe a lot I hear. In any case, if they did land them at one of my preferred spots I wouldn't be telling all and sundry LOL.

IMO......

Before sunrise is always a good option. Leading up to and after sunset also applies. Wind is not that important if you fish the white water areas using poppers, slices or bait casting. Top of the tide is also a better option.

"Not fussy" is a complete untruth LOL. Ask all us old farts. Tailor are either there or they ar not. The only way to find out is to be there and work for them using various methods. I have caught some beauties later in the day.

I recently returned from Kalbarri. A great trip but I missed out on the horse Tailor. Word is that they ran a muck over the weekend. I got there Monday and fished hard for 3 days with little success. Fortunatly I could get to some places I normally woudln't as the easterly was blowing. Some great bottom fish came out of those sessions (land based).

Rock walls at this time with a big sea can produce some nice Snapper.
