UFC 193

I see Ronda Rousey got her head smacked in at UFC 193 in Melbourne, I guess the old adage that every dog has its day rings true here.

I'm sure a lot of people
I'm sure a lot of people smiled when they heard those flapping gums had been shut. Brutal sport though male or female.

Yeah, that last kick to the neck finished her off pretty well.

In the head become acceptable, I have no problems with boxing but can't condone assaulting some one when there down. And Women?

This isn't boxing, ground
This isn't boxing, ground fighting is part of MMA. Each athlete knows what to expect & trains accordingly. Kicks, knees & headbutts are NOT allowed to the head of a grounded opponent. When both fighters are grounded punches are nowhere near as powerfull as when thrown from a standing position. Despite what many people think MMA is not a free for all no rules contest. It's actually very heavily regulated & things such as groin shots, eye gouges, shots to the spine & back of the head etc are all illegal.
MMA is supposed to be so brutal but in boxing the idea is to hit a person in the head as hard & as often as possible. In MMA the entire body is the target, not many shots get thrown to the head compared to boxing. In MMA the fight can be finished in many different ways, not just beating somebody senseless like in boxing.
Many people have died in the boxing ring, nobody has died during an MMA bout. There are thousands of boxers that suffer from permanent brain damage from trauma caused by so many hits to the head. There are a few punchy MMA fighters but nowhere like the number of boxers.
As for women competing, why not? They are highly trained athletes that spend years training. They know exactly what they are signing up for. Why shouldn't they be allowed to get in there & fight if that's what they want to do?
As for RR. Given her bad attitude & lack of respect for her opponents it was good to see her get so thoroughly dominated. Now all we need is for Hollywood to realise that Fat Cat is a better actor & stop giving her movie roles.

Punching someone in head
Punching someone in head standing or on the floor... Both there to physically hurt the other person. Not a huge difference. Your in a fight anyway why should it matter. MMA incorporates ground fighting which is as real as it gets, in a sanctioned professional environment it is statistically safer then boxing.
Got keen?

Rousey
Rousey should have taken the fight to the floor after getting tagged the first round. Being an elite grappler, with Olympic pedigree it would have been easy pickings on the floor. Yet she decided to stand with a professional boxer /kickboxer n took a chance. If there's a rematch, I'm sure she'll stick to the craft that got her there in the first place. I.e snapping arms.
Got keen?

Crikey thats tough training
Crikey thats tough training for for a 10 year old. I dont wanna sound rude but isnt 10 years old to young to start training hard and copping hits to the head? Or are there strict rules in place at that stage of competion to protect young developing bodies and brains. I couldn't run 3km over a week let alone every day. Good on him

strickly controled
sparring and fights are stricky controlled as soon as a kid looks in trouble the fight is stopped my young bloke had a bit of a speech impediment but as the most experienced junior at his gym his trainer gets locky to warm all the kids up (some are 6 yo) on their skipping ropes which has made him talk in front of people

I know how hard it is to
I know how hard it is to find young blokes to work for ya that have half a brain in their head, its a shame to hear there getting their brains knocked out before they have a chance to make something of them selves. Give the kids a rod and a bike keeps em fit and they have fun at the same time.

Its Hard
But not that hard, amature boxing now with the head gear and biggers gloves is all about point scoring, doesnt take much for the judges to stop fights with the young ones.
It is a great sport for teaching respect.

Haha
My young bloke just turned 6 and finished top in his first tournament recently, so bloody proud. Won all 3 elimination fights to make it to the top step. He's been doin Tae Kwon Do for less than a year now and even tho it involves punching and kicking to the head and body I don't see any signs of brain damage yet lol. Don't be too soft on ya kids, gettin em into martial arts will teach them respect and diciplin along with having fun, earning some 'life tools'

Good stuff!
Good stuff and congrats to your son! I love seeing kids enjoying themselves, especially when it involes things that help them learn.
Now, imagine that picture but with a rod in 1 hand, and a 20kg fish in the other!
A fish in the hand is worth 10 in the water!
