Using spin rod as an overhead rod

 Question, i know spin rods are designed for spin reels but can you also use them with an overhead reel? It is a finn nor 80ld spinrod?

 Rods generally have what is referred to as a spine, meaning a particular way they prefer to bend if you press down on them fro straight up above. So if you are using a spin rod as an overhead you are going against the natural spine.

the other more obvious difference is spin reels run less guides so therefore if you try and run them as an overhead the line can often rub on the actual blank.

 

but if push comes to shove and it is all that you have available then give it hell I say!
