trick with buffies
they always have a good cave near them and those caves reguarly hold dhuies :D. also if you keep an eye on the school for long enough you will find that very often small kings and sambos will travel with them. mainly below them or as far away from you as possible. they also just randomly appear in the school so if you look for ten minutes at the same school randomly you might see a couple of sambos just pop up

Size
When they are small fish [up to about a kg or 2] they will stay close to reefy areas, once bigger than that they form big schools and can be found nearly anywhere, over sand, deep water in shallow bays, you name it. Usually spotted "tailing"where they circle round with just the tips of their tails breaking the surface. The biggest I've caught was in a shark net and went around 12-13 kg at a guess.
Have even seen them netted by pros after being mistaken for salmon---had a big laugh at that one because we warned the team that caught them what they were but they thought we were pulling a fast one so we could get them.

Massive mako
Remember tossing a big buff of about 10kg out of the net over the side off Three Bears where they surf to see a massive mako about 4-5 metres long and 3 metres from the boat swallow it whole. Stuck a big hook in another one and tossed it to it but nothing doing.
Seen white pointers many times before but that mako gave off the most threatening feeling I've ever felt, an eye the size of a big softball watching everything Jeff and I were doing.
