Weekend Report

Took the GF and her old man out from Freo on saturday. Started the day off with some shallow water sambo's, pinks and a few KG's east of rotto

Call was then to get some dhues so headed out to 45-50m and was straight onto a 7kg model for the old boy.

Spent a fair bit of time playing decky re-rigging, baiting up and a bit of coaching for the GF. Finally got a chance to drop a line myself so fed down a drfit bait rig with a whole squid caught the night before and after a decent tussle on PE-3 up came this puppy! :)

Couldnt get away from the dhues then with another 7 caught and released before we found a nice black bum and a few pinks to round out the day.

Can I ask, what size weight was used on the drift rig? And what size hooks were on the Gangs?

Sorry for the stupid questions, just im heading on a charter trip next weekend, and just wanting to get info for to make up a few of my own rigs.. Thanks.

Half ounce bean sinker

Mon, 2012-07-16 13:57

Half ounce bean sinker (depends on wind, current, etc though) then 2 x snelled 7/0's on 80lb leader Mucsavage. If i was going on a charter i'd def run a drift rig - with all those snapper leads crashing the bottom unde the boat a lightly presented drift rig sitting out a bit furtherwould be the go ...

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

A great reward for spending the time on getting the GF onto some fish. The fishing Gods know how to reward the good guys. :)
