Where does our boat ramp money go??

Recently went for a short trip up to Denham. Sadly didnt take the boat but was amazed at the quality or the boat ramps and fish cleaning facilities.

There was 2 fish cleaning stations within 100m of each other both the same as the photo below. Bins for fish carcases and lights for night cleaning. Each also had numerous taps on it to wash down and large drain hole in the middle. Top quality and shade too!!!

Got me wondering where our $7+ goes?? i can only gather these facilities were council funded and good on them. But as you all know if you go to Hillarys, Ocean Reef, Mindarie or Two Rocks on a nice weather weekend there would be an average of 100+ boats at each. times this by 100 nice days fishing a years = $$$$$$$$. Why can they not provide quality facilities like these ones? Jurien also has fantastic facilities and one 200th of the population of Perth.

I can only hope some of the money goes to Sea Rescue?

 Royalilites for regions pays

Royalilites for regions pays for out of town ramps, and most of the local money pays for Rangers and upkeep of the ramp areas.

Absolutely fabulous cleaning

Absolutely fabulous cleaning stations. I have also seen these in Carnarvon. I am sure that the fishos value this facility. However in Perth . . . . . would probably last a week before it was vandalized by some little c*cksucker

 we also have good facilities

we also have good facilities in Geraldton, but while RfR put a lot of stuff into regional areas you'll probably find that most of these were done pre RfR.

Very thankfully there are no charges for the use of these, as per the other thread on beach permits-my view is the same.

Collecting fees likely eats up most of the fees, at least in a low volume area like regional.

And if Councils were to decide to charge for that then they should also look at charging golf clubs more than a peppercorn rental for land worth multi $m maybe?

At least Cockburn is free. I think the SOR guys are pretty lucky. I wouldn't mind washing the boat at home and filleting fish at home if I wasn't paying anything.

 Rockinhham is free and has

Rockinhham is free and has boat cleaning facilities with standard tap fittings and a huge cleaning table with taps & bins makes it worthwhile travelling 20 mins more if fishing in sound or 5fb.

Yep I have to agree Rockingham is good to fishos

Rockingham knows how to get boat fishos attention and they will spend money in Rockingham (fuel bait etc) if they are treated ok.

Cleaning tables

Fri, 2014-10-24 19:58

Don't know who came up with the design of those round stainless cleaning table but IMO they are the worst ones I have ever come across. Probably someone laying awake in bed with one hand on it and coming up with what he thought was a great idea.
Knife edges don't like metal to metal contact, the dribbler taps are useless for washing your fish [for those that rinse them] and you need one hand on the button at all times to get water to run leaving only one hand to hold and wash whatever you are trying to rinse.

I think that Jurien also has a good setup

good filleting table with good water pressure to taps, scrap bins, plenty of parking and good ramps, just a shame some people don't know how to use them..
