matei run a p79 in hull wet

mate

i run a p79 in hull wet box type tranny and it out performed my transom mount by a mile, but that was due to the shape of my hull at the rear.

siting still or at a very slow speed(5knts) there was no differance, but at  speed i get a full reading ay 30knts.

i am in the process atm of installing a 1kw wet box and i am hoping for some more improvement in the detail side of things.

another thing with the in hull is no chance of it getting busted off by shit in the water or if you have kids and swim out of the boat, no one standing on it.

cheers ron

I agree with Ron, but depends on what material is the new boat? F/glass or ali? In Hull wont shoot through ali properly (hit and miss). But also bear in mind a lot of ally boats are hard to get a good reading from as the bottom of the boat (the hull) isnt smooth flat like f/glass. and strakes also are a problem, So either transom mount it but drop it low as poss or the 1kw transoms are a bigger transducer and have larger suface area. So that could work in your favour. Or a Thru hull but not every one is keen on drilling a 50mm hole through the bottom of their boat.
