Winter Shark fishing

Hi guys , I have been living in perth for a few months now and was just wondering if is worth fishing for big sharks off the beach in winter. I have done lots of land based shark fishing back in south africa and we get them there all year round.

Hi Mate,

you do get them in winter. But there are not as many around as in summer. I personally give land based shark fishing a break in winter but there is still the chance of landing a big bronzi who is after the salmon or snapper.

Cheers Seb

As seb said the big ones would be chasing samon or snapper, I might try for a big one in the sound when the snapper show up in good numbers but until then they are around in a lot less numbers compared to summer. The south coast is awesome for some real monsters year round in certain spots.

I know but would need them schooling to attract enough 2-4m sharks to make it worth while targeting them from shore.

I would rather target the snapper than a shark. Sharks are pains when you are catching good fish :-D

Catching a 3m shark with a 70cm fish as bait sounds way more fun to me than a few snapper. You do get snapper from shore but not in big numbers all year round might get one or 2 in storms but I'm far from an expert on snapper lol.
