They are waterproof and seemingly built like a tank. First generation offered more flexibility in being able to interchange rotors but had some issues I think. I was looking at buying but the second and current generation has the smallest one weighing at just under 20oz (560gm). Not too bad but I am looking for a reel that is about 15oz or 450gm.  This will be a bailless model which I can get used to as I used to have bailless reel. Remember the Mitchell 499 which were bailless! Don't know what he did to the second generation as the first generation reel was lighter.

Anyway if you are looking for a waterproof reel why not wait for the new Penn Spinfisher V being released later this year. Sure it's not going to be refined as Zeebaas or Stella or Saltiga but the price is one fifth and if you don't need the strength the Spinfisher V may do. I will look at  a Zeebaas if he releases a lighter one but I am considering a Stella 5000 at the moment but with the Spinfisher V prospective price being about $150 it warrants a consideration. Hopefully Penn will consider releasing a model with better metal in the gears.
