Fourth day in a row fishing, today was COD DAY!
Up this morning at 0530, kicked Claire in the guts and got to the ramp at 0615. Today is my forth consecutive day of fishing. I have to go back to work tommorw so today had to be good. Only trouble with fishing on the weekend, is the pingers around the place..so there was a lot of stop and start fishing. Claire had a great day, catching a few good size saddletail. She also caught a fair size barracuda, on a bottom rig, which game her a run for her money.
We drove about 800m away from our spot as a boat was coming..and i didnt want them pinging us. I looked down at the sounder, and low and behold..we had found another bloody lump. We Did one drift for nothing...but the next drift was much better. We had just got to the back side of the lump, when something big took my hook. It took about 5 good runs, and was giving me a work out. I called it for a small shark, but it was soon revealed it was a nice sized cod. It was 89cm long, and was one hefty fish.
The joys of flat water soon changed, and the sou easter started blowing up quickly. We pointed the traily for home. Had another great day on the water...so many species to catch up here!

Tryed
Tryed releasing him twice, but had no luck. Caught him in 25m of water, and he was alive and kicking. But pulled the release weight of him twice, and then 5 mins later, he would float to the top. So now half of him is in my fridge for tea, and my mate down the road is eating cod, for the next couple of days!

Nice
Top fish. Your racking up the species now. More to come no doubt.
The best reason for doing what's right today is tomorrow.
