It comes equipped with an anodized aluminum internal frame system, dual flotation bladders and a three-quart water bailer. The Molokini features a removable lightweight anodized aluminum frame system, allowing the user to minimize space consumption, thus making transporting and storage of multiple units easy and convenient. The simple purity of the Molokini's elegant yet powerful transparent hull has an irresistible beauty. The Aluminum internal frame and the timeless, no-frills shapes of the Molokini accessories create a sportive and modern effect. Classical exclusivity is conveyed by the sleek curves and brilliant transparency. Sportive seats designed for comfort not only make for a pleasant trip, but also meet your demands for quality and style. This model is recommend for areas that experience calm ocean conditions. New retractable skeg system included in the standard version improves tracking, a feature especially convenient for long distance paddling. If purchased additionally, the new optional outrigger system improves stability when in choppier waters and renders flipping practically impossible., Unparalleled material durability, weather ability and impact resistance are among the Molokini's advantages. Impact resistancy tests have included intense crashing against rocky shorelines, 20 ft drops, hammer blows and an ejection from a vehicle at 70mph. Tests performed on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, have proven that the visibility on a sunny day and during non-turbulent water conditions can yield views to depths of 75 ft plus for the exploration of new worlds waiting to be discovered. Tests have included encounters with pods of dolphins, coral farms and nocturnal underwater sea life.

Question about Fisheries Researchers.
Submitted by Rodrat on Mon, 2008-08-11 16:00Hi
What powers if any do fisheries research officers have?
Coming back in to point peron ramp on monday and when
we pulled up to the wash down bay a gentleman came over
and said he was a fisheries research officer and he wanted
to ask me a few questions. Basicly the ins and outs of a ducks backside!
Anyway one question he asked was did we have any fish on board.
We didnt and i told him no. I was assuming that he didnt believe me as
he then said, well if you do i have to sight them. I was pretty sure that you dont
have to answer any questions or show them anything,is that right?
Cheers

OK - I have already
Submitted by 7739ian on Mon, 2008-08-11 15:55admitted i am a computer rooter - i have been trying to load a photo i thought may be interesting into a post using Sambo's sure fire instructions but it only seems to give me the option of putting them into a gallery rather than a forum topic. Also the steps listed don't seem to work - ie: image assist? - i can't find that either. Yes, I am possibly a bit simple but can lift heavy things.

Post up your Pics
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Mon, 2008-08-11 14:47Hey Guys n Girls,
I've really noticed that the site has dropped off recently as a result of a few of the freezer discussions we had the last couple of weeks. Please don't be afraid to post photos of your catch because if we all go into hiding and don't post them up then the site will die a slow death, which no-body wants to see. Please keep the photo's coming and as always, I will ensure that those jealous individuals that try and criticise will be removed from the site.
I know you Perthies haven't had much weather to write home about lately, but if you've got some pics from the old days it would be great to see them. Lets get this place moving again with some interesting stuff to look at to backup the great forum discussion.
Cheers,
Adam

Get Strapped Bracket - or how to get harness lugs on smaller reels
Submitted by till on Sat, 2008-08-09 08:15Hi,
just thought I'd link these as I was talking to a few people about these at the party last night.

Alan Tani seems to be really into these, you can see him add them to his Saltist in his saltist upgrade snaps! They come in three colours: Gold, Silver and Black.
Edit: I put Alan's handle in as well, its articulated, but not at the same angle range as tiburon because they have a patent IIRC.

Black Bum Cod
Submitted by Rodrat on Thu, 2008-08-07 16:09Hi All
What is your opinion on the Black ass cod when it comes
to eating and the size that you can get a decent fillet off?
Is there much meat on a just size one?
I have been catching a few lately and have been releasing them as i didnt think that there would be much of a feed on them. All legal size too.
Am i right in thinking these fish dont grow very big?
Thanks

Fishing canal
Submitted by Colin Hay on Thu, 2008-08-07 11:19I see that Colin Barnett is back and talking up a canal to bring water from the Kimberley to the south west. He would win my vote if he promises to put Barramundi in the canal as well.
What a tourist attraction that would be for the State.

Does anyone know if they are going to stock the new lake?
Submitted by Colin Hay on Tue, 2008-08-05 16:30Lake Kepwari set for summer opening
There’s good news for the South-West, with Lake Kepwari expected to open this summer.
South-West Minister Mark McGowan said plans to transform the former mining void into one of Western Australia’s biggest freshwater recreational lakes were moving forward.
“With the planning phase complete and the partial surrender of the mining lease back to the State imminent, progress is now being made on finalising designs and tender documentation,” Mr McGowan said.
“We anticipate a late summer opening and that means water-skiers can enjoy everything the lake has to offer.”
Lake Kepwari, 10km east of Collie, is a mining void that has been rehabilitated by Wesfarmers Premier Coal.
It holds about 30 gigalitres of water and is almost two kilometres long, one kilometre wide and up to 70m deep.
Collie-Wellington MLA Mick Murray said plans for the first stage of the project included the development of a boat launching area, swimming beach, parking area, barbecues and shelters.
“There has been strong interest in the project from a number of water recreation groups,” Mr Murray said.
“The lake will be a drawcard to the South-West and raise the profile of Collie.
“It will complement the highly successful Collie Motorplex that was also supported by the State Government in partnership with Wesfarmers Premier Coal.
“It is set to become the centre for water-based recreation in the region.”
The project has received $3.29million from the State Government towards construction of infrastructure and management of the site.

New advisory committee appointed to manage the Abrolhos Islands
Submitted by Colin Hay on Tue, 2008-08-05 16:24Fisheries Minister Jon Ford has increased community representation on the advisory committee that manages the Houtman Abrolhos Islands.
Six new members have been appointed to the Abrolhos Islands Management Advisory Committee, along with three returning members and chairman Peter Driscoll, whose term continues.
The new members include Perth Zoo Animal Health and Research Director Dr Helen Robertson; air charter operator-owner Caroline Pettet; charter vessel operator Leonie Noble; Tourism WA Industry Development and Visitor Servicing Executive Director Jennifer Duffecy; trucking company owner-operator Heather Jones and charter vessel owner-operator Jay Cox.
The returning members are recreational fisher Bevan Suckling; Abrolhos Islands commercial rock lobster fisher Kris Carlberg and pearl farm lease co-owner Martin Jurat.
Mr Ford said the committee traditionally had a strong focus on commercial rock lobster fishing. However, given concerns about impacts from rising visitor numbers and the expansion of tourism activity at the islands, he had increased the committee’s membership from nine to 10, to enlist more expertise in these areas and allow more local representation.
The Abrolhos Islands and their surrounding waters are an A-class reserve and a fish habitat protection area respectively. Both are vested in the Minister for Fisheries for the conservation of flora and fauna, tourism and purposes associated with the fishing industry.
The Minister said the islands’ special values included a rich marine ecosystem, combining both temperate (cool water) flora and fauna and tropical coral reef habitat; internationally significant seabird rookeries and some of WA’s most significant marine archaeological sites and early 17th century Dutch shipwrecks.
“The Department of Fisheries runs a research centre on Rat Island and has four dedicated field staff who spend 140 days a year on the islands,” Mr Ford said.
“The Abrolhos Islands offer a unique combination of marine and terrestrial diversity, as well as a rich history and important fishing grounds.
“The Department of Fisheries, which manages both the land and marine systems of the islands, is therefore taking steps to ensure that increasing visitor numbers are managed without causing detriment to the environment.
“For example, the department recently built 22 public moorings to reduce anchor damage while ensuring boat safety and access to dive sites and it also conducted a major maintenance program for the islands’ three airstrips.”
Mr Ford said the newly appointed advisory committee would continue the previous committee’s work in overseeing a review of the Abrolhos Islands Management Plan.
