Another Cray Pot Rant
Submitted by kelsea on Wed, 2014-01-08 08:25Went out and pulled the pots again today as well as dropped two more to replace the stolen ones. A very strange thing, the four pots that the three of us had left out there only got us two crays. Only one pots had crays in it (about 8 and only two size). The ropes on the other three were a lot cleaner than they were yesterday and the bait was almost all gone. Talking to people they said probably lice but clean ropes, f#@k all bait and pots slightly off the mark make me think other wise. Am I becoming very sinical and letting past experiences cloud my judgement on the human race being good or has society managed to culture more wankers than good people?

Kalbarri and Monkey Mia
Submitted by Stewart on Tue, 2014-01-07 21:39G'day fellas I'm heading up north with the family in the next few weeks and will be throwing the rods and crab nets on board. Just wondering could anyone point us in the right direction of a few decent shore marks for myself and my young lad to fish for the likes of tailor, pinkies etc. any info would be greatly appreciated.
also just wondering does it be quite windy up that neck of the woods this time of year?

my dilemma. ..fish finder vs watch Freo win the GF
Submitted by randall df223 on Tue, 2014-01-07 21:26I am faced with a (nice) dilemma. I have a significant birthday this year, ending in a zero and times it by two for a good batting score....
I have a choice to make. Go to Melbourne in September to see Freo win the GF... or a good fish finder for the boat???
It pains me to admit, I think the fish finder wins. Did I say that out loud?
So. The budget is no more than $1,500. I am thinking a Simrad NSS7 combo plus transducer for just under $1,500.
What are people's experience with these units (good or bad), or better suggestions for the same budget? I am happy to leave out the combo and just go with the sounder (leave the plotter for another day, my handheld gps will do for now).

Tackle rat
Submitted by fab on Tue, 2014-01-07 16:51Hey guys, this has been driving my daughter and myself nuts for months. What does the tackle rat say when he comes on? I like to eat a peice of cheese? It doesn't sound right I know. Maybe I should get a life, but every time it comes on we turn volume up on telly, but can never tell what that little rodent actually says. We will take on any theories. Cheers fab and Olivia

mates first freedive and my old targets revisited.
Submitted by Chris fish on Tue, 2014-01-07 15:15 had an awesome start to the year with some more awesome catches and some very deep freediving 18-27m trying to find that elusive red.
had a mate and his brother down from perth for the weekend so the goal was to try put them onto some good fish and marc wanted to give freediving a go with me. managed a nice bag of fish from a remote location. evan got his first grouper on rod and reel, ive picked up a 14ish kg one and some reefys abd marc has got himself a monster at 24.5kg for his first blue from 6m of water!!!! thats was the morning session, arvo we dived a common spot had a swim with a heap of marine life and seen a heap of blues all just cruising around the reef with lots of queenys and the usualy reef fish and seen a bronzie diving so the arvo goal was to get a shark. jimmy lost a monster, evan pulled hooks on 2 and i landed a decent male on 40lb and the little avet and sensor surf.
pretty dam stoked with it and my first time chasing sharks in a fair while.

Thievin' Mongrel Bast#@ds!!!
Submitted by kelsea on Tue, 2014-01-07 09:12Isn't it strange how when the populous takes holidays that my cray pots go missing. I have covered the ground several times now searching for rope thinking that perhaps it was just some cowboys who have run over the ropes and cut them but I have come up empty handed. I stopped doing pots a few years ago because of the pricks out there, surley if you can afford a boat you can afford your own friggin pots. If anyone out there has taken someones pot in the past DONT if you've even contemplated it DONT FRIGGIN DO IT someone has had to work to pay for the bloody things.
Now I have gotten that of my chest I guess I'll go and buy two more pots.

Micro Jigging
Submitted by schecky on Mon, 2014-01-06 17:02Hi all,
Hope there is no problem with me posting this (mods?) but for those interested in Micro Jigging or just trying something new off the boat or shore then I would love for you to take a look at my informational page on Micro Jigging. It is something I started doing and have fallen in love ever since due to the massive variety of fish I have caught as well as some really nice fish on light gear. I was told about it by a friend and noticed it isnt really all that popular so I wanted to spread the word!
Also another excuse for more toys!
Check it out at: www.microjigging.com
For those with Facebook I have a page for posting your captures here: https://www.facebook.com/microjigging

Could I please have some help with fishing in Onslow
Submitted by bluemino55 on Mon, 2014-01-06 16:14I have just moved to Onslow for work and would like some help or advice to where to go fishing. I have a 6m Polycraft and 200litres of fuel so have a decent range I can travel. Any help would be great, I am currently thinking about getting a tinnie as well as there seams to be endless options with all the creeks about. As you most probably know fuel in town is $2.15 and would like a couple of starting points and from there I will find my own spots.
I m also keen to chase a mulloway either from the boat or from the shore, just need a starting point on where they are.

I heard wedge was closed?
Submitted by lunker on Sun, 2014-01-05 22:17Hey guys, I heard wedge island access had been restricted after the stabbing on New Year's Eve. Does anybody have any info on whether this is true or false, or if it is alright now?
I was planning on a fishing overnighter with a couple of friends next weekend but if there will be too much hassle with the authorities guarding the area I may look elsewhere! Just takes a few assholes right?

Pushers vs Trolled baits at the rotto trench
Submitted by beeroclock on Sun, 2014-01-05 20:16as soon as this bloody wind stops howling were heading out to the trench for our first serious attempt at hooking a marlin or big YFT. Weve got plenty of large richter pushers in a few ddifferent colours, sizes styles and know how to use them (we think anyway) Have been doing a fair bit of research and notice trolling whole fish as swim baits seems to be more popular off queensland and other places for marlin, sails and many fisho's over there say they are way better than lures. Does anybody use them at the trench? How do you go with them? My understanding is that its quite an art to rig them properly but its something i'd make myself learn if it greatly improves landing a big marlin any fedback appreciated

We want to do as much fishing as possible and are thinking of getting some tix on a fishing charter.
Could anyone recommend a decent charter? I've seen mixed reviews all over the net mostly bad :(.

Denmark fishing this time of year
Submitted by Oracle on Sun, 2014-01-05 18:37Hi all,
This year hasn't gone real well for me and my fishing time has been limited to a fraction above zero. However, with a bit of luck, and I may need that yet, I may get away for 10 days down to Denmark. If I'm going, I'm taking the boat (as if you wouldn't!). When you google around, it says it's good for fishing and crabbing and the same old, same old crap you get on general searches.
Anyone on here from Denmark or visit this time of year? I'm looking at taking my crab pots and deeper water fishing outfits. Happy to search my own grounds but any general advice if you've been there and done that would be appreciated.
Cheers in advance.
