Marron
Submitted by fuzzy79 on Sat, 2014-01-18 20:58I am keen to get away for 2 nights with my 2 year old son and father to try and get some marron. I would like to camp by the river so we can have a few drinks whilst marroning and I am looking for suggestions. I would rather use nets than snares, so I am prepared to travel a bit further south.
Looking at maps and using google searches I have come up with Rooneys Bridge, Fernhook Falls and Wrights bridge as being potential spots. I am told there are less marron in the Blackwood River, so the first two spots may be better. I have also read a bit about Potters Gorge (Wellington dam) and Honeymoon Pool, but I would only be able to snare in the dam and supposedly the locals have overfished the area.
Anybody know whether these sites are any good? Any other suggestions?
Thanks

Submitted by Grant Jones on Sat, 2014-01-18 18:38Back in 2012 I returned to Zim to marry my wife at an island on the Zambezi River. We spent 14 days traveling to various lodges doing activities, game viewing and fishing with family and friends.
I've finally finished a video compilation, all shot on gopro hero 2 60fps. Watch in HD.
Hope you find it interesting.

Any one catch fish today
Submitted by clogwog on Sat, 2014-01-18 14:12Went fishing out of Peron, was suppose to be a good fishing day, sounded around the 20's, 30's, 40's and fished areas with fish showing and could not even get a bite. Tried trolling on the way in but still not even a sniff.

Esca Light " HOW DOES IT WORK" Check out the Youtube Link below:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNTk8dpF84E&NR=1&feature=endscreen
The Esca have been proven around the world and we have been asked for them before also but now after using them both with bait/patternoster rig setup and jigs we're impressed. They have a soft fade light and soft blink light so not intrusive and very stream line so perfect for bait rigs or jigs!!!!
We've used the Esca fading blue and the Esca blinking blue in the Super Deep and couldnt see a difference between the two but they work. We know a few commercial fisherman doing the Super Deep stuff with Esca and they have been using them periodically on different drop lines to test the results and they said to us they got more bigger fish and more blue-eye with the Esca attached " interesting ".
Special $
Esca used on the Super Deep 1kg Pink Jig

Esca used on the Oceanside Custom made Super Deep rig with a double header.

__________________________________________________________________________________

If your jigging the Super-Deep ie 300-500m these 750 & 1kg are it. Made in Japan and they have a great finish
thats attracts fish and lasts for ages.
Fast drift speed & currents make jigging the Super-Deep very hard but these " rear weight " 750 & 1kg solve that problem. We have
just received another order of Super Deep jigs but we went heavier on the 1kg as they're more popular.
Ideal for;
Bass Groper
Hapuku
Greyband
Blue-eye Trevalla
Ruby Snapper

Rod Repairs
Submitted by couchee on Sat, 2014-01-18 10:19HI all,
Not sure if this is in the right spot so forgive me if it isnt,
Recently i had the locking ring on my old trusty 10' beach rod split so i can no longer tighten the reel seat to the reel, this is my favourite rod and i would like to get it repaired if its possible?
its a cork handeled rod with quite a long butt, im guessing they will have to remove the cork to replace the reel seat, would it be possible at the same time to upgrade the handle from cork to a compfier item?
maybe even make it a split butt arangement?
and that leads to my next question, who could do this?
thanks in advance

Mulloway Fishing and the moon size
Submitted by FergusonV on Fri, 2014-01-17 23:51I've only given mulloway fishing a good crack a couple oF times, but I'm down south around Bunbury for 2 weeks after Australia Day and wanted to try and catch this amazing fish.
However, I checked the moon around this period and it is going to be well under half the entire time.
Everyone always tells me you need a massive big moon to bring them out.
Are they telling the truth or should we spend a few nights on the beach giving it a good crack?
Any advice or stories are welcome cheers

Simrad BSM2
Submitted by 22Tango on Fri, 2014-01-17 20:34I've had this setup in my BW Conquest 235 with an NSE12 and Airmar 599 3kW in hull (not thru hull) chirp transducer for 2 years now.The success has been limited in water greater than 100m. I purchased it through Challenge Marine a couple of years ago which have all but folded and I've been left with zero support since, an awesome all up $20K investment .....not.
I've had all the latest software updated on the unit and am going to run deep tomorrow (100+) to give it 1 last go.
Is there anyone out there with the same setup that is successfully using it in the 100-500m? If so can you please advise the best settings and if there was anything you had to do to get it working right.
I've done some research on previous posts and couldn't see anyone that's come forward and said "it's you beaut", actually quite the opposite.
Cheers and thanks

RE-post Work experience / employment
Submitted by DhuBoi on Fri, 2014-01-17 11:33Hey my fellow fishwreckers ,
I have recovered this Topic from the archives of Fishwrecked , saves creating yet another post. My previous post is noted below.
I am still in the same situation as before and have put in a countless ammount of time and effort into resume's cover letter's etc with nothing more then rejection letters and a few interviews only to get beaten to the finish line by somone who has a tonne of experience. I have been considering for a couple of months now to maybe pursue or go down a different career path . At the moment I am working in the most unorganised , disfunctional warehouse an I am over it . I would like to get out of this environment and into something more fulfilling where I can advance in career / pay . The way this company is structured it is simply impossible to advance in pay or up the ladder . I have been looking for work in my field for over 12 months now. I live south of the river and am looking for ongoing fulltime work something stable as do have responsibilities . Preferably I would like a professional work environment , somewhere I can enhance my professional skills. If not I am more than willing to develop my skills in other areas, anything to get out of this dead beat job I am working. I know there are alot of people on fishwrecked who have there own business's and possible links into other fields of work. So just putting my feelers out . Feel free to comment below or Pm if you would like to know any extra details. Appreciate if people have nothing but negatives to say to not say them at all , As I beleive I have done everything in my power to get work experience and find better employment.
Cheers in advance again .
( PREVIOUS POST ) As the title suggests i am looking for work experience or employment preferably in my field of study . Having a hard time getting a look in anywhere . Iv completed a degree in enviro sustainability science , since then basically been working a warehouse job . Iv tried seek , wa jobs etc without any luck so far . If anyone could offer some advice, assistance ,or possibly paid work experience / employment that would be awesome. Im dedicated and focussed i work hard just want to succeed in my field of study . So at this point in time im exhausting and using every resource possible to try and get my foot in the door .

shark cull- A breakdown
Submitted by Versus on Thu, 2014-01-16 15:01I know its been done to death, and apologies if you've seen it already, but came across a good article that breaks down some of the facts about shark attacks and culling etc.
No I haven't double checked all the facts or figures, or the background of the author. And yes it is anti-culling in general. But have a read, it is pretty balanced and fair. For me, it supports a few theories I (and probably many others) had, namely that the increase in shark attacks might be contributed to by a bunch of "one percenter" factors. E.g. increasing population, increased use of the water etc. Surfers are far and away the most likely bunch to be attacked. Bees and lightning kill more people each year. The ratio of drownings to shark attacks is about 306:1.
Anyway have a read.

Submitted by Compleat Nedlands on Thu, 2014-01-16 14:01Hi Everyone!
It’s nice to be welcomed on to the forum so far, and has been great meeting a few new faces in-store over the silly season.
Would like to create this thread with the intention to give light to some of the new and unique products that we carry in store to show some of the available stock we carry.
Periodical updates will include things like new rods/reels recently stocked, small reports on fishing locally and beyond, as well as first look at new lures and techniques/best locations for best results.
If anyone has any general questions please feel free to post here or send us a PM and we will do our best to help out wherever possible.
Regards,
Compleat Angler Team, Nedlands.
