Weed Everywhere
Submitted by Dean on Fri, 2008-08-29 19:38Anyone planning fishing beaches around yanchep/tworocks, not worth it. They are completely weeded out. 1st cast bait was in the water for about 10seconds and I had about 60kg's of weed on.

Submitted by BQ544 on Fri, 2008-08-29 18:08Guys,
Besides the screen size, is the FCV 620 and the FCV 585 using a 600W transducer, the same unit as far as performance? Or does the FCV 585 have a better processor?
thanks for any info

The Sound
Submitted by Bodie on Fri, 2008-08-29 14:28Was planning in heading out from Two rocks sunday, but the weather is starting to get worse, so we may need to find an alternative.
Just wondering if anyone knows how the sound is going? thinking out round Carnac or something for KG's Flatties, maybe Pinkies?
With the 3 Metre swell rocking in and looks like light Westerlies, dont think going deap will be much of an option.
Thanks Guys.

Undertanding effects of moon phase, tides, wind direction influencing fishing?
Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 2008-08-29 11:51Hi everyoine..
Can you guys assist in explaining how the phases of the moon, tides and wind direction influence the fishing conditions here?
I spoke to a retired gentleman who has fished Safety Bay area for years and he was trying to explain, but I couldnt get it - he says black moon, easterly winds, early morning tide, off coventry reef is good..
yes, but why?
Wind just for comfortor does it bring bad weather in?
Tide - why should it influence 30m plus waters?
moon phase??
these two varying tides a day with uneven differences also do my head in........
I'm sure there will be very interesting answers....
Thanks
Dave

long weekend rotto - report
Submitted by Ollie on Wed, 2008-08-27 22:33Me and my brother (milsey) decided it was time for a trip to rotto. We hoped the weather would hold up on the week end which did happen. Headed across
Mid-day and wanted to start small so headed to swirl to try our luck on some big Skippy but they wouldn’t really play ball.

Gave up on them and headed across to row reef where we stayed till dusk.
first sambo on a softie

and some red's

We headed in for a night of painful
Hull-slapping
In the morning we decided to try for some kingies around the south side because of the northerly. Again the fish wouldn’t really play ball.
morning

breakie

fishing

good bb

so headed in early and had a quick troll.

After catching a few pike we headed to shore for a well earned rest. Next morning headed out a bit deeper. Drove around for a bit trying to find some new ground. After a bit of driving we found a nice little lump.
First drift and first harlie to Milsey

Bit later bb for milsey

I relised I neaded to catch some fish so kg time felaz

the big upside to fishing

And the downside to fishing

Shark Bay
Submitted by 7739ian on Tue, 2008-08-26 09:06Got back from Shark Bay on Saturday night after a very breezy week which put a bit of a dampener on the proceedings - or so i thought until i compared notes with people who had been up the week before. We managed to launch on 3 days out of the 5 so actually did very well. Two days were good enough to take the boat out towards Faure Island where we found a nice hole that produced our bag limit of Pinks both times, Sizes varied from 530mm (mine of course) to a couple of nice ones a few millimetres short of the maximum. Very little other tha Pinks biting - we hooked and boated (and returned) dozens with a lot up around 450 - 470mm but the keepers were not as abundant. The usual beach spots produced very little but small bream or nothing at all. One of the highlights was driving along the top of cliff north of Red Bluff and watching what would have been hundredds of small Bronze Whalers schooling along the beach - for all the numbers of them, we did not find any interested in a bait or lure - still, great to see. One of the low lights was the idiot in the black Landcruiser with Busselton plates who overtook us at high speed while we turning in - the orange flashing thing on our vehicle was obviously something new to him. Overall it was a great week but sorry i missed Flat Rocks - i will be there next time. I forgot my camera so i am waiting on my more responsible brother to email the snaps - i will post a few when they arrive. And thanks to Spess for the burley - much utilised and appreciated.
