Furuno 628 sounder pic and fish result
Submitted by PJim on Sat, 2019-03-09 07:30Wednesday myself and a mate headed up to a spot near Leeman. Weather was better than expected so we had a quick fish in shallow after launching at 4pm, managed one 65cm dhu. Didn't think to take a photo.
Next day we headed out at daybreak and went about 8 nm offshore in my little 4.2 savage. We did a drift near some craypots and landed a couple of snapper. This is only the second time we have caught snapper in this area. We then went out to about 35 mts where I found little shows like the one below on my new furuno 628.

These produced baldy and dhus and our 2 person bag for the day was 1 dhu around 55cm, 1x 48cm baldy and 2 x 60cm snapper.

The following day we only had a couple hours to fish so went straight out to the 30s but the fish were quiet and we only managed a 60cm baldy and a 4ocm blackarse.
I really do like the furuno 628, the lowrance carbon 7/totalscan combo was only seeing fish if they were really thick

New Mandurah bridge
Submitted by meglodon on Fri, 2019-03-08 22:38Has any body fished of the new Mandurah bridge. My next door neighbour asked me about fishing of there and I felt most embarrassed when I had to tell him I didn’t have a clue about what was being caught of it and.what gear to use for the fish being caught there. If I can find out what is being caught there I can put him right on the type of gear.
Can anyone tell me what is currently being caught of the bridge and the best time to try, thanks in advance for any info you can help with.
Pingers two rocks
Submitted by johnno67 on Fri, 2019-03-08 22:25Got to two rocks ramp this morn nice and early 4.45am launched the boat and sat at the jetty waiting for daylight as there was only a couple of other boats in the water.Next to me there was a fairly new Ali with all the gear nice boat I not 100 percent sure of the name but it started with reel and I think it was reel addiction.Chatting with the guys as you do about hope ya have a good day where ya going they were going out for the deep drop in the 350m -400m metre mark nice they asked me where I was off too and said we had some really good days on the dhuies out west jokingly they said we might have to ping you on the radar lol.So any way they left the marina about 20 mins before us and we waited for a little bit of daylight before we started heading out, so we get to my honey hole hooked up on dhuies all of a sudden these guys come out from nowhere and are only about 20 metres away from us and ping our spot keeping in mind they left the marina some time before us they waited to see where we were going.so watch out for these pingers they have all the good gear but obviously have no idea how to use it

FAD location on Navionics
Submitted by Lavs on Thu, 2019-03-07 08:59Hey guys,
Reading mixed reports from threads I’ve searched. Do the FAD locations remain the same every year?
Navionics has them plotted, but don’t want to treck it out there only not to find them.
Also, any recent reports?

YouTube Fishing Channels
Submitted by Francis on Tue, 2019-03-05 14:53G'day Folks,
Curious to hear if anyone has favourite fishing/camping/surfing channels on YouTube ?
If I have some time to kill (Eg. on the train to work) I tend to jump on YouTube and see what I can find. The "channels" that I frequent are:
- Youngbloods (favourite)
- Gido's Land Based Fishing Adventures (I don't know how I stumbled onto this one, maybe from this site ? But I'm amazed that this channel isn't bigger. Really enjoying this one atm)
- Chris Bamman - Camping/fishing
- Jamie O'Brien - Surf
- Koa Rothman - Surf
If anyone else has some good one's to recommend then I'd love to hear them.
Cheers !

Hamelin Bay
Submitted by bunfish on Tue, 2019-03-05 14:46Unfortuntately I was left to cop the photos & stories of Fish caught by my Dad, Uncle & Cousins over the past week from their trip to Hamelin Bay.
Let my boat go in Dad's capable hands Saturday 23rd for the family to use on the annual trip south.
First day down they reported a couple tuna & a small Dhui & Black rock fish?
second day out they come back with a nice mixed bag of Tuna / Snapper / Harlequin / Nanigui & couple Dhuis.
I've had continual issues dialing in the Lowrance Elite9ti, and now looking at upgrading to a new Sounder unit. However, my Cousin was able to dial it in & they got on to a few nice fish as a result.
unfortunately the weather didn't allow them to fish everyday & they had to spend later part of last week at the camp or the Karridale Tavern.
one return they caught another nice Dhu & dad even a Grouper on jig.
will definitely be booking my annual leave for next years pilgramage

Trolling Rod - 2019
Submitted by selthy on Mon, 2019-03-04 15:49I was lucky enough to receive a Tiagra 30WLRSA as a gift. Will mainly be used Perth Metro trolling for macks with the occasional trip up north. Thinking of spooling it with 15kg mono. From my research it appears that shimano updated their trolling line up last year and it appears that many of the previous features of the TCurve Tiagra are now on the Backbone... but I cannot find a 2018+ backbone in WA.
I did the foolish thing of looking at the top of the range Tiagra Hyper at Bluewater and wow, what a nice looking rod.
If you were to be buying a new trolling rod for a Tiagra 30 in 2019, what would you be looking at?
I have some vouchers for a well known supermarket style fishing store which I would ideally use, however I am noticing that they seem to specialise in lower end rods.

Abrolhos Trips
Submitted by dadinabarrel on Mon, 2019-03-04 00:53Hi Crew
Can anyone point me at information about where to head on my first Abrolhos trip?
26' Plate Ali doing day trips from Gero. I'd prefer to camp (swags) but the info seems to say that it's not allowed.
I'd like to go spearfishing as well while I'm there. It's a huge area, it would be great if someone could help narrow it down a bit for me.

Who has taken all the blowies
Submitted by meglodon on Fri, 2019-03-01 00:41About a year or so back I made the comment in the forum about the apparent lack of blowies in the Mandurah estuary system.
Well the same thing has happened again, I usually use blowies for crab bait as they make a reasonable bait and last a fair amount of time, my usual way of getting them was to put an oily (tuna oil) rag over the back of the boat and just scoop them up with a prawn net. If this wasn't very successful then a bit of burly and a paternoster rig was used.
To my surprise I haven't seen a single blowie in the estuary this week I have as a matter of interest looked at most of the fishing landings around town and found zip, now either fishos are being very good in cleaning up after themselves and putting all the blowies etc back in the water or they are not catching any either.
Has any one else noticed this (bloody good) situation down at Mandurah.

yes i bought a jeep
Submitted by Shane O on Thu, 2019-02-28 09:32 before i start please be kind - that means you jackfrost
Had my Jeep KL trailhawk for a bit over 3 years now - idiot i know
in that time the car has had rear axle seals replaced
The rear RDM replaced?
The driveshaft replaced
New battery
parking sensors fixed mutliple times, all seemed to be going great after a few months and jeep gave me a one year extended waranty. least the wankers could do, this all went doen hill 2 days ago. was at the intersection on mandurah and pinjarra road at the mandurah forum, went to take off from the lights and lost power and accelaeration. this was followed by some weired noises. had to pull over for a bit, turned back on and seemed ok, drove around the corner and got as far as work clobber on pinajarra road on my way to jeep to get it lloked at.
The all heel broke loose, squealling noises, grinding noises (all very loud) the check engine light came on and service transmission light came on. had to pull over and finally gota tow to jeep.
This car is an absaloute joke, we dont have lemon laws in australia and i am getting know were with jeep. they have now said its a seperate issue as they have said its a power transfer unit which has not previusly broke. so they will just replace, worst case is whole new drive train. does anyone know where i may be ale to get help, the dept of fair trading said to lodge a complaint if jeep does not help. but cant see that being much use
