two rocks
Submitted by wez0062 on Mon, 2019-02-11 07:02left two rocks marina around 3.30 Sunday morning heading out wide. Was a bit slow heading out due to conditions & travelling in the dark, with a spotlight to dodge the cray pot floats.
Found our spot in the 40's & started fishing right on day break. My cuz landed a very nice 65cm Baldie & a shark. I managed my PB Dhu at 77cm also caught 3 more baldies between 40 & 50cm. Threw 4 more baldies back.
Long slow drive home again, but it was great to break a fishing mojo drought of nearly 12 months for me

Fortescue rivermouth
Submitted by Roughas on Sun, 2019-02-10 11:30G'day all. When you've launched from the mouth of the river for a Montes trip, do you leave your car at the launch site or is there somewhere else to park? In addition, what is the security situation like for the parked cars/trailers?

Fishing sun glasses
Submitted by C.P on Sun, 2019-02-10 09:53This question has probably been asked more than once before so appologies for that.
Any recommendations for fishing sunglasses please? - Boat and beach.
Is it worth spending top dollar or is a pair of cancer council sunnies from a pharmacy just as good?

Rotto crays
Submitted by duges66 on Sat, 2019-02-09 20:59Borrowed a mates metal collapsable pots pulled the 3 times since Tuesday for 1 cray. Set them on Roe Reef in 13m for 1 cray then moved closer to island of Armstrong Bay in 13m for 0 crays so back to Roe for 0 crays. Any advise where I’m going wrong or is no one catching in those depths at Rotto at the moment. Oh and bait pots loaded with tuna heads. Re depth I’m limited by the 15 of rope.

Swan River Tailor
Submitted by baconi22 on Thu, 2019-02-07 19:31Hi guys my biggest tailor from the swan is 35cm so not massive but I hve heard they get to 60cm and generally use lures but found the new trend is trolling mullies on gangs talking to other fishos but it would be great to get some more advice in regular fisherman like me. So what is the best time of day to catch tailor presumer in periods of dark when they feed, what is the best tides, best time of year for big ones, is there any secret bait besides the usual mulie or pilchard, what is the best rig with what lb leader and where is the best spots just for big ones in the river so I can get some line peelin off my reel. Cheers.

Swan River Mullet
Submitted by baconi22 on Thu, 2019-02-07 19:28Hi guys I have recently got into bull shark fishing and have found the best bait is mullet getting runs or bitten off by them however it is just store bought mullet and I figured I would get more runs on fresh mullet as fresh for most probably all fish is best. So since I have never targetted mullet before where are the best spots for them. I am only 13 so have to ride and I live around canning bridge but am willing to ride far if there are lots of mullet. Cheers.

So just wondering is bait better than lures for the big ones or vice versa and what is the best bait and what is the best lures, what is the best tides, best time of day, best time of year and most importantly where are the best spots or spots that at least hold whiting because I am completely clueless. Cheers.

Eagle Rays Swan River
Submitted by baconi22 on Thu, 2019-02-07 18:39Hi guys I know rays are a pest when chasing fish such as mulloway in the swan but since I am only 13 and I am not aloud to stay up all night I may as well target something easier and that hangs around all day which is the eagle ray. I have caught them previously and I just love there long powerful runs and which is why I recently bough a daiwa bg 8000 with 600m of 65lb braid to reel them in quicker. So just need a few tips such as what is the best bait, what rig should I use, what is the best time of day, best time of year, do tides matter and most importantly where are good spots in the swan river. Cheers.

Lacepede islands. Camping/fishing information wanted
Submitted by Meeuwissen on Sun, 2019-02-03 12:39Looking at doing a trip with a few boats over in April around the Easter/ANZAC day period. Have used to search bar function but cannot find too much information on where to launch from? I was thinking beagle bay or middle lagoon or banbana wells.
Are neap tides better or springs for chasing gts?
Has anyone camped there before and what set up did you use a pulley system?
Fishing wise just wanted to do some jigging and popping over the reefs. Can anyone shed some light on what else to target while over there?
Any information would be much appreciated and will make sure to do a report on the trip for people wanting to the same thing in the future.
