Exmouth 2019 tomorrow!!!

After last year was a bust with 1 day of good weather and 400knots of unexpected wind ,  I’m towing the Barcrusher up to Exmouth on Friday with the forecast from mid Sunday looking good (touch wood) , picked up my new HSV Sportscat Ute last week so travelling in style - had Walkinshaw tune the Duramax to near 200kw and 600nm so she Tow’s effortlessly- report to follow - staying at the lighthouse and drinking - chasing Billfish predominately on spin gear and -  drinking -  and pelagics with a bit of jigging the bottom and drinking  ,  stickbaiting the gulf and shallows - no bait trip.

Fishing Weather Forecast, Currents and Water Temperatures

 Hi All,

I want to know which websites everybody uses to check the weather for fishing. I mainly use Seabreeze and Willyweather. I also have tried Fishranger a little bit, but haven't persisted with it. But I am mainly after websites that have currents and sea temperatures to chase Pelagic fish.

Happy to check out the ones you need to pay also, but I'd like if anybody could share their experiences (good or bad)?

Personally I don't like seabreeze, it's got less locations than Willyweather and I find it less accurate.

Cheers

Chris

Looking for ideas - LB fishing, North

Hey guys, venturing north in a month or so and just looking for some ideas on which general area to hit up. Will be LB, have 4x4, prefer beaches - chasing tailor, mulloway, sharks and the little fellas on the flicky.

Normally drive up Leeman way, but wanting a sea change. Any ideas on somewhere nice and quiet? If it's within 5-6 hours of Perth, I'm happy.

Cheers

ET tabs for Sea sickness

A few on here know what I do.
But recently had a few people ask about ET (ie Andrew Ettingshausen) tabs.
Haven't heard about them so just wondering if anyone on here has used them and thoughts.

Motor running not running drift results

Just wondering what people’s thoughts are about drift fishing with the motor still running or turned off. Do you think it makes a difference? I’m talking less than 20m.

also was wondering if there are any areas where snorkeling for crays off the shore is an option? havent had a chance to check yet, but is dunsborough subject to the same abalone rules/season as perth?

Anchoring behind garden island

Hi

Just after some advice regarding anchoring in around 15m depth on west side of garden island.

i was using a sand anchor as the ground looked flat on my sounder, but unfortunately it got stuck and I had to cut my rope.

For those That know this area, do I need to use a a reef anchor?

Thanks for advice

Exclusion Zone Point Peron

WA water corp has identified the area in the map off Point Peron attached as not recommended for catching crayfish or fish. Seen a number of pots in this area over the years. Thought they would have posted this at boat ramps to alert people.

Parking in Denham

Hi Guys

Heading up to Shark Bay very soon and plan to spend a few weeks living aboard our boat.

Anyone know where I can leave a car and trailer. Was thinking leaving it at the ramp as seem safe being right in town. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Any tips about the area would be great.

thanks Chris

Mud crab pots

 Gday all

We are in the final stages of getting everything ready for our 12 month adventure around oz we are taking a roof top dinghy and plan to use it as much as possible I would like to get stuck into some muddies and I have no idea of what pots work best I have some hooks to get them land bassed pots need to be collapsible.

Also would anyone recommend any other particular fishing gear to take got all the staple stuff probably tacking to much tackle already way to many lures. Taking a cast net to get fresh bait.

Cheers

Leader strenghth for demersl soft plastics

I went way out west yesterday...how good was the weather!

I was using a 20lb main line ( bit light but it gets the jigs down )and 50 lb leader with soft plastic

when i hooked a substantial something that was heavy and bucking. i started to slowly work it up after about 2 minuites

something gave....and i thought oh no my leader knot has failed...when i wound in my leader

was still tied on via the FG knot ( thank goodness. I would have been gutted to lose a fish via knot failure )

All i could see at the working end of my trace was one rather large knick around 80 mm from where it now ended. No abrasion marks at all,

So what do you think may have happened....and is 50lb heavy enough for that application ie Dhuies and snapper on

soft plastics

Nice bunbury lump

Had a dive on this lump I found in winter. 36m and completely surrounded by sand.

First Fish

Young bloke (2 and 1 month) got into some herring this afternoon. First time he did the whole wind wind.

Gotta love the humble herring for its jumps, runs and excitement when it hits the deck.

They were in plague today along with Kakka crays in shallow.

Early dhu

Out early today for a nice mixed bag all before 7

TotalScan Transducer Bracket - Where to source locally

 Hi all,

I'm after a transom mount totalscan transducer bracket.

Anyone know who sources these locally?

Alternatively if someone has one in the shed after changing to a flat mount bracket, I would be happy to take it off your hands.

Cheers

Warroora :-) Station - camping & fishing

Looking at heading to Warra Station in May ?? (undecided, plenty of time yet), just my brother and myself, camping gear and my 4.3 tinny. Would like to see the area before it all changes and gets restricted. I'm pretty much aware of the restrictions and necessities. (water, fuel, toilet, power, recovery gear)

Looking at the maps, Warra station has a marine reserve ( Pelican ) pretty much in the middle of the station on the coast and extending 5-6km offshore ( I think, roughly google mapped it)

So my options are to camp north (14 mile) or head south of the marine park and camp down that way still on Warra Station (Nolans Nook ?? or close to it within the boundary)

For the guys who may have fished north or south before and camped, what in your opinion was the best or is the best ? Now i assume north would be more fished being closer to Coral Bay but that is just an assumption. I prefer to pretty much use lures only, so my style suits shallow water then heading out a bit to chase pelagics and drop jigs on anything interesting.

I chose May as I am hoping to miss the April crowd (kids) and arrive before the June crowd (nomads), again just assuming, there are bound to be plenty of nomads at 14 mile.

Also would be nice but not necessary to be able to have a small fire at night, hence May - October I believe fires are allowed.

Now if you have an area that you think is better (camping, fishing, access) then please share your opinion. Not really looking to head further than Coral Bay at this stage.

Just looking to get back to basics with the bro, beach camping, fishing and a beer as he is coming from over east.

Cheers

Scotty

walpole

hi

can anyone who has been to walpole tell me if there is a tackle shop in town.

Surrounded by sharks on the jetski!

There are some crazy amounts of sharks around at the moment which can make catching kingfish near impossible!

Mandurah fishing offshore

Hello all

this was a discussion 8 years back I have seen in the site.

But I’m in the same situation. Moved down from up north and now running out of the cut, hitting spots out 35 m , behind the five and all over.

managed 1 x due but not much else.

any clues as to moon phase or tides for these fish is it any time of day or dawn and dusk better?

anchor and burley, or drift?

any information appreciated

White island ,Shark Bay fishing advice

Has anyone fished around White island and got any advice to share?

Fuel shortage

Went to Bunnings in Cairns and bought every one of their jerry cans, loaded them into a maxi taxi and on the way back to the boat I bought 2 x 44's as well. I aint running out of fuel on this trip. Strapped 1 of the 44's to the bow, 1 on the marlin board and the rest went inside, I made it to another country.

Anyone fished Oman?

Just watched a Robson Green Extreme fishing episode from Oman, if I was a younger man, that place would be on my bucket list. GTs and OS Mackies.
