Kalbarri Fishing Charter
Submitted by yousetouse on Tue, 2012-03-27 08:39Guys,
Going to Kalbarri for 10 days from 13th to 22nd April and was thinking of getting out for a day with a charter mob.....Anyone had any experience with any of the charters there?
Alternatively if there is anyone who lives around that way who would like to make some extra cash by taking 3 blokes out for a day PM me. All three of us are normally land based so would really need someone with a bit of patience!
Cheers.

Kayak sounder/fish finder
Submitted by westaus_ryan on Mon, 2012-03-26 21:11I'd like to install a fish finder or sounder to my Finn Beachcomber kayak. Was just wondering if anyone has modified their Yak with a piece of equipment like this? I don't really want to spend any more than $200, and i really just need something basic, just to tell me the depth and maybe identify different bottom structure.
Any feedback would be much appreciated, cheers.
GT in Perth Metro ?
Submitted by warrend on Mon, 2012-03-26 20:50Do you get GTs this far south ? Decided to go for a fish over the weekend off 3 mile. Was letting out a live bait when it got smashed by something that looked like a GT just under the boat. Got cut off as it darted under my hull.

New skipper wondering where to take my tinny.
Submitted by Fisherman Mikey on Mon, 2012-03-26 19:31Howdy, havn't posted much here i usually just lurk the forums but i need advice about boat fishing. I'm getting my skippers ticket through my school, im getting it this thursday at the boat shed at freo. In my garage is a 12ft tinny with a 15hp motor that no one has used in a while and i was hoping once i get my ticket, me and my older brother could try fishing somewhere around the metro area but i really have no idea where. I have also made sure the boat has flares and lifejackets.
Does anyone know any good spots where theres not too much chop and theres a chance of catching something decent?
Cheers,
Fisherman Mikey.

Beach/Surf Fishing
Submitted by metroLBfisher on Mon, 2012-03-26 17:30heading up north this weekend to try locate a few deep holes, gutters etc.
Was just wondering what people use in the way of tackle:
What pound line 20lb? or heavier? Braid or mono?
How heavy do you go for sinkers?
What size baits?
The reason im asking is im trying to get as much possible distance as i can, i've tried a few different things but havnt been able to get much distance.
I have a 3 m shimano surf rod that seems to do the trick.
Open to any suggestions or recommendations as im starting to go more often
Cheers,
Jamie

changing gear ratios
Submitted by EL SYD on Sun, 2012-03-25 19:24Hi all. I have a spare satiga dogfight and was wondering if i could put the high gear into a red saltiga S-extreme 6500
need the S-extreme on a custom rod but want a high gear ratio. currently have a stella 20000 on it but it lives on another rod
cheers
Need opinions. Daiwa Saltist LD20 or Fin Nor Marquesa 12?
Submitted by triggy on Sun, 2012-03-25 17:24I like the look of these 2 reels, mainly for a bit of bottom work in 20-60m of water and maybe a bit of jigging.
Price difference is minimal but the saltist is 200g lighter. Line capacity isn't an issue with either.
Can't decide on which reel?

Another Certate Hyper Question- changing knobs
Submitted by Quobbarockhopper on Sun, 2012-03-25 16:24Looking at blinging up the Hyper with a new knob... Having a few issues trying to remove the old one. Anyone done this before that could give me some pointers?
Have done this before with my Talica and Luvias DA and it was a pretty straight forward process, but am stuggling with the Hyper.... It appears to have the usual two screws holding the plate in place on top of the reel, but not even the smallest jewlers screwdriver or even allen key (tried that!) seems to fit in it. It honestly doesnt look like it should be suited to either.
Anyone have any experience with changing a Hyper knob give me the heads up on how this is done?
Cheers!

No shallow reef or shelter, and 35-40cm Tailor was hammering the jigs and whole live bait, on the bottom, in 40m water depth, around 8pm last night!! Is that usual for Tailor?
