Had a day out with the Diversity boys Pete and Mick on Wednesday. The day started with them picking me up from the hotel @530 so we could launch before the low tide @ 730. Lures were put in the water around 645 and i had my first marlin (a small black) by 7am, from there we raised at least one fish almost every hour for the rest of the day (unfortunately no solid hookups) until around 2pm when i caught a nice blue. In between we landed a couple of dollies and saw a couple of free jumping sailfish. The boys had a couple of punters cancel a day before so i was the only one on the boat, but that didn't stop the lads from working their hardest to connect to a big one.

For those who haven't heard Pete and Mick started the charter approximately 6 months ago and will do everything from bottom bashing/ Deep drop/ Spearfishing to Game fishing they like to keep the numbers small so that everyone enjoys themselves.

If anyone is heading to exxy and are looking to book a charter give Pete and Mick a call.

 I hooked three cuttle fish today & let them all go. I've never bothered with them as they always seem like too much trouble, spraying water & ink everywhere. However I'm interesteed in others opinions. Are they good to eat or to use as bait. If for eating - do you prepare same as squid?       

Im heading up north next week for a few day. I've never before up north.

Can anyone give me any tips as to what i should bring and what type of rod and reel i need.

 Out from Mandurah today drift fishing. Calm as & the water was clear. Saw a Spanish Mackeral swim past. Some kind of Mackerel anyway.  Around 1.2 mtrs I reckon. First time i've seen a Mackeral around Mandurah. Maybe others arent surprised but i sure was.

2013 Offshore Championships have now finished in Costa Rica and what an effort by the PGFC boys who won the WA Open last year in Jurien.
Whitey and Ivan have consistently worked their way up the leader board over the 4 days to finish 4th overall (equal 3rd on points 4th on countback) in the teams event and Whitey has smashed the field on the last day to run away with the Top Angler prize and is now the World Champion.
Great effort both of you and congratulations from PGFC. We are all very proud of your achievement.

hi guys , just a little thankyou to Damo (Habanero) on here and (Dave?? i'm shocking with names the first time!!sorry) at DUNSBOROUGH OUTDOOR SPORTS, ive spent  the last 2 weekends down at Dunsborough chasing salmon and previously to that had Pm'd Damo (Habanero) re the best spots to target them, anyway we had 2 awesome weekends and caught plenty of Salmon and although i have never met the guys at Dunsborough outdoor sports , they immediately had a big map of the capes out on the counter and showed us their "preferred" spots even describing the beach conditions etc, and then we got talking demersal jigging and everything else and (Dave?? sorry again) bought out his n.s blackhole rod (his personal one ) and let us load it up in the shop to try out.  Hats off to you guys ! top service in the south west  something that some other tackle stores could learn a thing or 2 from.   if you are going south to chase Salmon or anything else for that matter you could do worse than to call in and see the boys.  cheers

I (and i'm sure many others) notice a fair amount of spelling and grammar mistakes on the site, and I generally don't correct anyone as i'm not sure whether correcting people is welcome or will just make me look like a smart ass. Personally I think of it like having food in your teeth, i'd much rather someone point it out than let me walk around all day without knowing because they're afraid i'll be embarrassed or something. I know sometimes it's just typos or using shorthand (i use 'ur' alot instead of you're, etc) but there's also alot of plain wrong spelling or using the wrong word.

Things like to and too, there their and they're, where were and we're, and the old classics like trawling and trolling...

Don't know if getting spellcheck on the site is feasible. It's only my opinion but I reckon there's no reason anyone wouldn't want to improve their spelling and grammar.

 Good day. Do you guys recon it is posible to launch a 4.5m tinny from bundegi boat ramp with a Toyota Rav4. It does not have 4x4 but it does have Awd. Advice will be apreciated.

So far bottom bashed ( drifting ) out from Woodies in the 30-40m depths, in line with Garden Island with not much luck. Not really found any spots on the sounder at this depth either.

Not asking for any spots, but wondering if I should persist in this area/depth or fish closer in around the back of Five Fathom or head out deeper.

Any tips much appreciated

Who is going where .I guess most of the exy boys will be grounded for a while ,after there trip north. We are heading bush for five days, to do some gold prospecting.Then up to the Abrolhos for the long weekend.Give us a few days to count the Gold nuggets .And maybe find my gopro. I won"t hold my breath on that.

hey all, looking for any advice and someone with experience to point in the right direction in regards to beach fishing the big cape york, Ive got 2 months off and heading up there around july 2013, any tips and tricks

I plan on getting a new light weight 8-9 foot glass rod for casting all day, can any one recommend a rod and hopefully the trusty Penn spinfisher 850 is up to the task, 50 pound braid should handle everything right?

any one got any fav poppers/shallow divers they could recommend for queenies and GT?

between my and bro in law im thinking either charter or hire a boat for a day or two here and there but mostly just got leg it.

Dented the prop last weekend and after ringing Chivers they suggested for me to contact Max O Gradies the prop specialist dropped the prop off on Wednesday and got a call today at lunch time to say that it was fixed to look at the prop you would think that it was brand new plus they ordered me in a replacement skeg that bolts on so if you need a new prop or one repaired go and see Steve and he will sort you for the work that they did was very very reasonable top bloke to talk to they are in the industrial side of Occonor

 Ok, so im thinking of picking up one of these reels with two spools, one with 15-20lb and one with as big as i can go, maybe 50-80lb. i want to use the reel on two rods. A 12ft beach rod, thinking the light spool salmon and the likes and the large spool for sharks etc. The second rod is 8ft, around the 15-20 kg mark. I would use the light spool for casting metals etc and the heavier one for jigging plus throwing poppers at some large GTs ( may need to upgrade the rod for this) my question is would this be too much to ask for one reel? (is it that versatile?) open to other suggestions if you have a favorite. price under $300. cheers.

 Hello all, planning on taking my daughter to catch her first fish- she is 2. Not keen on taking her on the boat at this stage so was thinking of a trip to Moore river on Sunday.... Don't care what we catch but what is the view, is it realible? I know nothing is certain in fishing but would like to keep her interested. Don't worry we picked up a pink rod today so we should have decent luck! 

Any thoughts would be appreciated thanks 

 If anyone hears of cheap new high end reels for sale can they pm me please and anyone who frequents other fishing websites can they get the word out 

I will be in the Shark Bay area for a week mid - late October.

Any information as to good places to try fishing from land or any good recommended charter boats would be a great help.
