406 Mhz EPIRB
Submitted by Bert on Fri, 2010-01-08 19:57
Has anyone tried to register their 406 Mhz EPIRB and found that the HEX ID no. on the EPIRB has been assigned to someone else? I tried to register online today and was advised by an AMSA automated message that the EPIB HEX ID no. was in use by another person. I assumed that these ID's were EPIRB specific. I purchased the EPRIB yesterday and it was new stock. I'll call AMSA on Monday and sort it out and advise accordingly.

my guess is that someone
my guess is that someone that has registered theirs has typed in the wrong number as each unit will have its own number

I'm waiting for someone to
I'm waiting for someone to try and register the one they stole from my house during a break-in or even better set it off, when I reported it to Canberra they told me it would show up as stolen and they would be charged accordingly, my fingers are crossed.

You may need to ring them
You may need to ring them first and tell them you've taken it over second hand. Thats what we do when we sell them with boats. Then you can re register on line.
