Absolute RUBBISH
Lazy yesterday Sunday arvo, the missus and I decided to go to our favourite local spot for a fish. I must say im quite disappointed by how the other local 'fishermen' have been treating this spot...and its not just here, i feel its getting worse everywhere. i did a quick 15 minute collection and this is what i got, and this would be in a stretch no longer than 50m and i wasnt looking that hard.
5 overflowing bags of rubbish, and none of the stuff was in bags or contained in piles to begin with, they were all bags that i found and then proceded to fill up. its just plain laziness and theres no excuse, its very disappointing. i highly doubt anyone on this forum would contribute to any of this because we all seem to be more passionate about the sport and responsible.
its a shame the council cant put bins in the area, its a popular spot but it's a spot people arent supposed to be in and i think it is private property. when i was down there a fortnight ago there would have been 1/4 of the rubbish there than i saw last night.
anyways, after doing my bit for the environment, we were repaid with good karma from mother nature. We started the arvo off with a few small, healthy soapies...
And the best part of the night was this arm burner :)
sorry for the blurry snaps but it was dark and we were balancing on rocks haha. i think this topped the maximum 1.2m they supposedly grow to, i think it would have topped 30kgs as well, i know its nothing special but it made our night worth it

Good onya
Good onya turtletim. Sadly those pigs are the reason places get locked up.

Good job
Good job on cleaning up the area was that at the Bunbury cut the mess. And was that mulloway from the harbour and what did the mulloway take.

Shovelnose
Can't see the full tail to see what type, but think the 1.2 metres is about 1/3 to 1/4 of what they actually grow to. Have got them at over 4 metres and the bigger they are the better the quality of their flesh, same as wobbegongs

Yep
those white spot shovels are not bad to eat, but heaps of time to fillet. Freeze well though
last one I caught was 2m and thick, 45min fight on 30 pound pretest 130 pound leader

Full marks for picking up others crap
I do it too....can't stand to see it left behind. I can't understand how people who supposedly love the outdoors can destroy it by littering.

Nice
Nice catch mate, those shovels can pull line for a while. Cheers for picking up the rubbish I do it all the time too, but its getting out of control. A large part of the population just don't care any more.

I wont say exactly where i
I wont say exactly where i was but it was south of the cut, that place is always packed and ive found its mainly just blowies or dolphins around there, im pretty sure there are bins at the inlet and the cut where the boat ramp is so there really is no excuse. I wasnt in the harbour either if your talking about where the old crane is. Nothing there apart from blowies either in my opinion haha.
Ive caught 5 juvenile mulloway where i go now. Theyve all been in close and bighting right on sun down. I just use a simple patanoster rig with 2 3/0 hooks and a bit of squid. Ive tried occy and nothing touches it, mulies are great but dont last and i only use chunks/fillets of tailor or whole live whiting on the big rigs. Im yet to catch any yellowtail? Never even seen one??

Good job on the ray ! also
Good job on the ray !
also good job on the rubbish collection. If you feel strongly enough about stopping littering go here
http://kab.org.au/dob-in-a-litterer/ (go to your state)
and have a look. apparently you can register to "dob in a litterer"
interesting to have a look at the stats page ...looks like over 90% of reports submitted to KAB (keep aust beautiful) resulted in infringements of which most were paid. reports just by everyday people registered.
good report there turt3tim.

Ive never actually seen
Ive never actually seen anyone littering, it just seems to accumulate there. Id be more inclined to tell someone to pick their rubbish up, if they refuse, then i would report them lol
