Great win tonight for the Magpies in a genuine 8 point game!
Top four all but locked in, now gunning for a top 2 spot.
Oh yeah, Dane who? Dayne Beams of course, awesome break out season from the young fella. Have to see if we can squeeze Swan in now, the club is always bigger than the individual.
Coming over to pluck some eagles in a couple of weeks.

Won 16 out of our last 17 interstate games Sabre. The pies embrace travel not hide behind it.

A quick trip up to Sydney is hardly a road trip either. Leave Melb on the morning of the game and fly back for dinner after. It's the pain of crossing the boarder that hurts most for the Vic teams.

5 years
5 years of consistent interstate performance, shit, the mighty WCE would love anything like that record. How many interstate wins you boys had in that time Aaron? Might have to check that out and get back to you.
Hopefully Eddie will be flying the boys over on the chartered low altitude jet they used previously for a game over here.

come on big john, how can you
come on big john, how can you even compare the 2 sides when it comes to on the road record. west coast like all interstate teams travel 10 or so times a year plus finals when melbourne teams more so the pies are lucky to leave 3 times and when you do its NSW to play GWS and sydney, qld to play the lions and to adelaide. total air time would equal one weekends flight for the west oz teams. It would be good to see how the pies record would be if the were in the air every second week. To often you hear the Vic side whinging about 6 day turn arounds. and your only playing in melbourne again. interstate teams have 6 day turn arounds and have to manage recovery by wednesday as they are usually on flights thursday nights/friday mornings for games on sat.
Give the other strong clubs like west coast, Adelaide, freo or sydney this year, 6 or 7 games straight in their respective states and see how it all pans out. fresh bodys to travel when they have to. watch how their on the road record improves.
come on we all know Eddie gets on his knees when it comes to sorting out the fixtures. Im still in shock the pies are leaving Vic 2 weeks before the finals. how did that happen.

Here we go Aaron.
Since the start of 2008 till today.
Pies travelled interstate 20 times for 17 wins. 85% winning ratio
WC travelled interstate 51 times for 13 wins. 25% winning ratio
and, Out Wide will appreciate this stat:
Freo travelled interstate 49 times for 15 wins. 30% winning ratio
Note: I haven't included Western Derbies as they're not interstate away games.

Heres some more stats for
Heres some more stats for Denis Commetti, haha. since 1987-
West Coast
Home 220-1-94 =70 % Away 116-4-173 = 40.27
Collingwood
Home 273-7-222 = 55.08% away 48-0-48 =50%
Fremantle
Home 118-0-99 = 54.38% Away 46-0-136 = 25.27%
Collingwoods record in WA agains WCE and Freo since the 1987
wins 8 - Losses- 16
yes the pies have been to WA 24 times in 25 years. next closest was Richmond on 29 trips.
So as you can see its a little hard to compare the 2 sides.
Going on stats I like our chances next week.
I through fremantle in there just for the fun of it.

Time
So after all that time and practice, your still not good at travelling.
Obviously you've got a strong home ground advantage so its all swings and roundabouts.
Therefore, why do most WC fans continually bitch about the travel factor?

we have the 5th best record
we have the 5th best record on the road, 2nd best out of the interstate clubs. the fact is when you do it every 2nd week it takes its toll on your players.
for example just look at your record in WA- 8w 16 losses= 33%. and you do it once a year. do it every 2nd week then compare The pies record to west coasts or fremantles.
West coast record in Vic just to compare it is wins-84 draws-3 losses-120 =40.5%
not to bad.
As for whinging we know we have to do it but Im sure the AFL can even it out a bit better for the interstate clubs.

Draw
Only way to have a fair draw is scrap the NAB cup and have everybody play each other twice home and away. Even so, the Pies would only travel 8 times out of 34 games.
It's just the way it is.
Just like some teams get a gifted draw playing GC, GWS twice each for a a gimme of 4 wins.

Or instead of the Vic sides
Or instead of the Vic sides only playing 4/5 games interstate make them play 7/8. interstate teams get more of a rest from travelling and the vic sides are on the road more. like you said there are 8 interstate teams so why dont they play them away. if they happen to play them for the second time then the interstate teams go to victoria. sounds simple to work out to me.
For example Pies only played freo once this year, why not play it in Perth. 1 less time they had to travel 1 more time the pies did.
all we're asking is to even it out a little better. we cant shorter the distance we have to travel but we can shorten the amount of times we have to do it.

yeah 16 games would be nice
yeah 16 games would be nice in WA. would be happy to see 14 games at home for the interstate teams. Just simply to break up some of the travelling and rest the players.
Why the question, does that many games in your state with out travelling seem unfair?
remember that the pies have 17 games in melbourne this year. 14 of which are at the MCG.

There's also 9 other teams based in Melbourne, not 2.
The draw will never be equitable unless everyone plays each other twice.
Why should we subsidise some of your travelling k's, the competition is what it is. Travel is one of many factors, if your continually focusing on it then you'll never move ahead.
Must admit, its only the supporters that bring up the travel factor though, never hear the interstate clubs themselves whinge too much about it.

Pies are playing good footy
Have a few good players on the side line but the guys coming back are top line players. As for the Coasters be lucky to get more than one more win this season, but will not last long in the finals. Can't keep relying on Cox & Nic Nat to plug up the forwardline, Need more goals from midfielders and Darling. Good to see a bottle neck at the top of the ladder. Be some good finals in September.

predictions do come true
I told the weasel supporters would pull the OLD travel bug out of their ar$es.
weasels supporters are more one eyed than PIES supporters and they pull the travel excuse out after every win even if it's against the dorkers at Paterson , they blame the crowd not being behind them HAHAHAHA.
play the game, play the ball and kick it, you may get some good scores against good teams then.

Bad supporters
The weegirls supporters have copped a bagging on the talkback footy programs over the weekend as the worst in the league by far. Not only bagging Tommy Hawkins while he was still on the ground before being stretchered off but abusing the umps even though they won the game.
Cmon the mighty pies, we'll stick it right up them on the last game before the finals. woooo hoooo bring it on!!!!!

Playing on media hype John
You have only got to review some of the lame arsed comments on this and other threads to understand how bias and uncaring people can be about anything at all really, not just football. Look at the shit we all copped from Scotto because we are all limp wristed fishos who don't give a shit! I classify the "bad behavers" as the 5% club because that's about all they represent and use thier muscle, voice and very bad manners to try to get their own way.
The umpiring on Friday night was in my opinion "new concept". It wasn't bias, it was just fuggin unbelievable in the sense that I couldn't work it out and I have been involved in Aussie Rules for a lot of years and seen lots of change.
If there is one comment I want to make out of the game Friday apart from the fact it was a bloody good game it's that Brad Scott needs to grow up. What a weak as piss after-game effort!!!!!

I did have a chuckle at the articles directed at Eagles supporter's & their behaviour, has anyone seen any Vico based team play St Kilda??? Absolutely brutal crowd commentary to Milne, I mean shit that would make even the most vile of men blush. Between them I would say it's a two horse race between Essendon & Collingwood, need to take ear plugs if you are watching from the goal ends.

go down as the worst behavior I have ever seen. I thought some easten state clubs were bad.
I think it has a lot to do with guys like coxy screaming at the umps if he dosn't get his own way that starts them off.
I mean what did he get 7 or 8 frees and still not enough for his likens.
He has the umps shit scared of him and his mates in the stands.

your not bad Out Wide at
your not bad Out Wide at stiring shit.
Its called passion for the game. if you freo supporters had the balls to speak up during the game and not just 3 minutes before the final siren when you know you have it in the bag maybe your club would perform a little better. thats what supporters are for. Ive been to a couple of freo games and seriously they are the most boring atmosphere games to be involved in.
Liegh Matthews said it perfectly. We show a lot of passion and its not over done or bad behaviour. other clubs should follow suit.
And to pick on the Number 1 ruckman in the comp is shit house. he deserved all the free kicks he was given, he played a young player that could not stop him other then to wrap his arms up or push him under the ball illegally, all worthy of free kicks.
but hey your ruckman cant play cos he keeps putting the wrong color nail pollish on his big toe. thats weak.

But as Mark Duffield points out crowd behaviour was just as bad in Melbourne before they introduced new crowd control measures. I agree something needs to be done for the dickhead minority both Dorkers and Eagles fans alike. So don't you Eastern states supporters start donning halos, because your feral sides are all tarred with the same brush just better controlled.

Every club has idiot
Every club has idiot supporters and they ruin it for the majority but I haven't to say being an oppostion supporter at Subi can be pretty full on. I know plenty of people that won't go to watch the game there, myself and my mates are included nothing against most fans and being passionate but 2 years in a row being called f*#%ing c*#ts amongst other things for no reason other than wearing opposition colours isn't the best of fun. I love my footy but it's only a game and no one deserves that sort of crap unless they dish it out

I've been absorbing all of the fallout from Friday
At the end of the day Chris Scott has deliberatly brought this on as a smoke screan for losing Friday. Tough titties mate. As I have said before there are the 5%ers in every club. I am sure Geelong have more than that in terms of ferul supporters at home.
The Tom Hawkins issue was used to blow all this shit up. People seem to forget that the umpires took control of the game in a way I have never seen before. The crowd was agitated and there was a lot going on. Tom got what he deserved and that was a very fair sympathetic send-off from the vast majority of the home crowd. Nobody wants to see someone sustain a head injury albeit we go there looking for a bit of biffo.
I am not sure Crhis Scott will get a very warm reception the next time he steps onto WA soil but hey; that's his problem.

Aaron I think you
are probably one of the 5%ers that Vince is talking about, or mabye you need glasses. Sorry Vince anyone other that a eagle supporter would say 20% or more.
Blind Freddy would tell you that there were to many uncourteous nasty unsportsmanlike mugs in the crowd.
Non stop booing screaming there guts out waving there arms shaking there fists about any little thing that that didnt go there way.
I can remember when the powers to be asked the supporters for more passion and cheer instead of clapping while the game was on. Wow how things have changed.
Now I would think the powers to be would be asking them 5%ers ? to behave because they are out of control and a bloody disgrace to this game we all love.

Some of your past retoic would suggest that, after few few beers or whatever, your ability to offer sensible input could be questioned.
As for the 5%ers, they willl always be there. If they disappeared then the union reps and the political system would be gone. Then again, having said that, I don't think the pollies make up 5%....... Let's hope not anyway ;)

Out wide, I actually take offence to that comment mate. I am a very passionate Eagles supporter/member, but I am not one of the 5%ers that you seem to know all about that Boo for any little reason. I have played footy all my life, been a part of successfull premeirship winning teams and also wooden spoon teams. I understand what it takes to play the game, put the hours in, get knocked out cold and still be keen as to get back out there and do it all again. Would not Boo another player ever and really dislike people doing it around me.
Hey but your pretty good hiding behind your alias not sharing anything about yourself. Are you even a member of your footy club? Im not sure you have even started a fishing related topic in this forum in your 3 and a half years as member, but you pretty quick off the lip to get into people.
I actually dont mind your shit stirring cos I love a bit of banter, but when you personal accuse me and put me in as a part of the 5%ers that every team have, when you dont know a thing about me, that shits me.
Come on Richmond this weekend hope they knock freo out of the finals races. Trust if they do I'll be the first to start a topic. Maybe I'll call it something like "Someone has to anounce it?"

Go to any ground in Australia. The Home Team is always gonna be the worst supporters you will ever see. And i gotta say i only ben to a few games at Subi but West Coast and the Dockers are fairly tame compared to a few Victorian teams. Hell i wouldnt even rate Collingwood as the worst. Geelong and Carlton have gotta be the 2 i would rate high up there at there home grounds. Its always gonna happen and its a shame. The game has changed to much, and i wouldnt be suprised with all the new interpretations some of the fans are just losing there marbles a little. Ill sit back and watch the footy with me Ol man and he'll sit there yelling at the tv about a whys that a free kick ect just have to keep reminding him the rules are changing.
