Try the
main jetty cobber. There's usually a few herring, skippy whiting hanging around there. Just be careful when the ferry comes in.

East End of Thommo Bay -in front of Governor's Circle
Have a look along the east end of Thommo Bay. At the very point of the bay is a reef structure known as the natural jetty. Fish anywhere along the beach heading up that way. I took kids fishing there whilst on a Yr 7 camp so it had to be super safe. They managed some herring, skippy and a couple of stonking King George using flick rods and hand lines!!!!
You could also look at the army jetty half way along the bay - similar environs use a little berley some fresh squid on a running sinker - sand bottom. Good luck

Yes
I ended up fishing in Pinky Bay bcause it's the nearest beach to my cabin and the wind direction favors me too.
1 silver bream, 2 KGW and 1 herring.
There are lots of weed there so try to cast a few different distances. I didnt cast far at all.
Caught all of them with my bream gear...great fun!
**i got the pic but i dont know how to upload them

bait
Sorry, forgot to tell you that. Yes, bait, i didnt try any plastic at all cause i dont have any and i was fishing during at night during the high tide (~10.30pm)
So, the beach was completely dark, and a bit spooky to fish there alone. So, better check the area in the day before fishing at night.
I used coral prawn (cutlet) as bait on a size 6 Shiner. I didnt bother to use any weight at all in the begining and i caught the silver bream (~29cm), then i use running sinker, small sinker and caught 2 KGW (~32cm). Didnt cast far at all... So, yeah, i think it's important to check the area and try out a few distance and remember to burley them up as well.
I used blue bait as well but nothing was biting.
I reckon soft plastic will work but just be aware of the weed, SP can be costly.
When are u going over and roughly where are u staying in Rotto?
