Any surfers here?
Submitted by hlokk on Sat, 2011-03-12 20:07
Been quite a while since I've surfed metro, sticking to surfing down south only. However, since getting a tinny, I can at least access some offshore breaks that arent crowded with a billion people, so i'm trying to get out more.
Any other surfers on the site, either metro or down south? Would be good to catch up with people when i'm heading out west or down south for a surf. Helps to get out more often if you know other people interested.
Also, will occasionally have a spot on my boat (or be happy to take a spot to rotto :p). Hmm, thinking tomorrow morning.

Dont know about cow bombie,
Dont know about cow bombie, seems a little small.
The alkimos wreck aparently has a break you can get to. Havent had a look at that one yet. Might have to keep an eye out for outside the reef as well and also that two rocks one. Cheers for the info carnarvonite.
reef-raider, last time I went to Kalbarri it was head high barrels at Jakes perfectly peeling off the point. Was only half a dozen guys out and no wind. The waves were good size but managable for me and the best day i've ever been out! Well, it would have been if my board wasnt 700km south :-S. I actually went to the surf/sporting shop and was going to see if I could hire a board or even buy a board and just sell it back later it was that good, but unfortunately they werent open (waited til 11am but was a sunday). Not sure where little jakes is?

By the time I got to
By the time I got to Kalbarri, it was a few days since i'd seen a forecast, but mostly didnt have my board as it was only one day in Kalbarri then exy for over a week. Didnt think my board would survive all too well stuck in a car in the exi sun for a week. (was only tenting). Was kicking myself though.

With Lamby on the Alkimos.
With Lamby on the Alkimos. Absolute swell magnet. Also try Little Island off Hillary's though it does get crowded. Just south of Little Island is Mamma Lefts which cranks on a good swell with light offshores. Or there is what we call 3mile which is almost directly out from Ocean Reef marina. Mind blowing when its on. VERY shallow barrelling right hander
Hlokk, little jakes is inside the bay at jakes. Fun little right hander.

hey mate
i chase waves from dunsborough when i'm on break - always good to meet new FW crew and extra motivation for summer slop or frozen winter early sessions can't go astray either
i'll send you my mobile.
good luck surfn metro, hope you find a few worthwhile ones.

Hey mate,
don't know if you got out yesterday but it was PUMPING down here. I got a few good bazza's at Smiths for a few hours despite the rediculous crowds
Give me a buzz next time your down this way, might even be able to convince Liam to get his lazy arse in the water

i ride bodyboard not stand up
i ride bodyboard not stand up but anyone who gets in the water is alright. Im actually looking at buying a fish.
Heaps of spots to surf both metro and south with a tinny, an easy spot is lancelin behind the main island. Called Mini Chopes its a wedging left that drains along a shallow reef ledge. The right gives you a fast backdoor section into the channel. On bigger swells the left shuts down and the right gets a nice step in it.
Further south we have found a wave that we call Box imposter. still nopt 100% on the best conditions for it but the few times i have surfed it it has been very similar to the box in margaret river. Never surfed it over 6ft though
Going on Fishing trips i have seen some serious waves. unfortuntely no of the boys i fish with surf so i never take my gear. This was a nice find last salmon season on the south coast. This was a sneaky insider between the sets which also held.
