Anyone using structure scan?
Submitted by sea-kem on Thu, 2012-11-29 06:38
Hi all have just purchased the HDS9 gen2 with stucture scan and will be installing it before Xmas so can hopefully play with it over the break. Does anyone use it at the moment? I'm watching the tutorial video and it looks pretty impressive. Any hints or tips if you appreciated.

If you are going through the
If you are going through the manual, you should be able to comprehend what I was typing.
For the best results, you need;
Broad band Sounder, broadband HD sructure scan (Lowrance),
and a headunit that has the capability to overlay the 2 information streams of the 2 different transducer signals into a 3D screen resolution.
Simrad NSE does this.
I am not sure if your Lowrance unit does as well.

Don't worry mate, Glastro is a bit verbose, he loves the buzzword compliance. He is a real expert though, never googles anything, a real hands-on bloke.
But, the Lowrance HDS Gen 2 ticks the following boxes;
* Yes, its a broadband sounder.
* Use downscan overlay.

See the pics at about 1:31. Simrad might do it in another colour, so that is different.

Thanks Jamie. Yeah I've found the structure map overlay section in the manual and that looks bloody handy. Funny thing is I bought the unit more for the GPS but am looking forward to having some fun with the structure scan feature.

How is that for being verbose?
Sea Ken;
I do have the HD Stucture scan and Simrad broadband fishfinder linked to the NSE system in my tub, so no need to Google!

I fished with Jayden once sea-kem, it was unreal. He was telling me there were individual snapper under my ski from 10m away and all that was showing on my hds5 was a little smudge on the bottom which I always thought was a bit of seaweed haha. We were chasing pinks around all morning, the images of schools of pinkies was amazing. Jayden finally hooked up but got dusted unfortunately. I want an upgrade haha
