lures

I'll show you mine if you show me yours Kiss

Thats a long list Peter....... and depends if you intend to troll or cast.....

Can start with;

Classics

Tilsan

Reidy's

Lively

Rapala

Halco

Predatec

Then just look at depth and size of lure of which I use 50mm - 130 mm. Small lures work well as do big lures...... but best bet is to match the hatch

I'm running anything from surface to halco crazy deep but most prefer around the 3+ - 15+ lures which relates to depth diving in feet.

Mate, dont discount Soft Plastic, deadly and cheaper....

When you get up I've heaps of mags with all the lures you could ever want to drool over.

I also use both baitcasters and spin gear. Both have thier respective applications but I like using both and I have a few rigged up and ready in the rod holders.

It's all good

Come out with a few of us and you will soon learn

But be warned lures become very addictive  he he

I generally buy up big once before the season (just did) and then run then down... otherwise you collect heaps of lures over the years.

Up here best bit of gear is a lure retriever.

from my experience it is

Fri, 2010-09-03 14:25

from my experience it is more about how well you can cast and work it, over what it actually is. My favourite in clearer water is probably a brown bomber, sort of clear with a gold inlay and a large bib, Upgraded with 3X hooks it sort of hangs when you flick, menaing you can tease em a bit longer and piss them off into biting.

As for Jacks - prawn star junior in honey pot - my favourite by a mile!!

RMG scorpions and classic lures are all the hard bodies i use pretty much, altho every northern fisherman must have a gold bommer in their box, its unwritten law haha.

You need two of each lure,

You need two of each lure, each colour and each depth.
Welcome to lure collecting.
Most importantly, I beleive, is to have a variety of depth.
No good trolling a 5m lure in 1 metre water etc.
90mm scorpions, in 4 metre bib is ideal for casting to jacks

From my very limited experience barra fishing i'd have to agree with the Gold Bomber.. bought one when i was up in darwin a few months back and it was the only one that consistantly got results...
