I find the bimini in mono
I find the bimini in mono doesn't work as well, especially once you're used to tying it in braid. It seems to put a lot of pressure and stretch on the line when wrapping back down so I always plait a double in my mono. A plait doesn't take me any longer and is easy to learn.

I tried the aussie plait and
I tried the aussie plait and finally got it down tight (so all locked together) but still had it pull at the top of the knot (reel side) sometimes. Not sure how to stop that happening as I dont think i could tie it any tighter. Seems to bunch up just that last bit, particularly if you bump a guide, but doesnt affect the knot down the bottom if you've done enough wraps. I do like how the plait is neater and smoother through the guides though.
Lately i've just been trying the biminis. I've done 30 turns and it has seemed to work fine. Might have to break the scales out and double check how the length affects it (had 15kg break at pretty much spot on with it though). I found that trying to bunch the coils up as close as they will go (like in braid) is really tough in mono, but when I tested it, it kept slipping, so then i let it wind with the wraps further apart (how it naturally goes) and it seems to hold up a lot better. Havent noticed the pressure and stretch Tim was mentioning though.

I dont use it for billies but
I dont use it for billies but for casting its great. I use it in 24kg mono and find about 15 turns is enough. Very different technique to tying it in braid though.
