Hi Guys, I'm new to the site but a long time watcher/guest, also a member of the NZ Fishing.net.nz [now living in Perth] My question is what is a good Boat Insurance to have, as I have ordered a new boat [Del. August] so need to have it insured. Any suggestions welcome. Many thanks. Deltadreams

Nautilus is another major
Nautilus is another major specialty marine insurer, Ive never made a claim but the premium is competitive and they are easy to deal with as regards juggling layup months etc.

Looked around before deciding
Looked around before deciding recently. Went Club Marine mainly due to being competitive and their assist package.

when we had a boat we did a lot of looking around and club marine was the go.
had no prob with a couple of claims after doing a leg in after we picked up some line around the prop shaft and did the seal in wich resulted in blowing the gear box .was a stern drive

Best I have found is rac all
Best I have found is rac all the options that nautilus and club have and no excess. Not even an option to have a excess to bring the price down.
Pays to shop around.

SGIO
My Boat is with SGIO and is $200 excess for under $30000 and $500 excess for +$30000. Used them for when I had a broken windscreen and was very good in paying out.

I tried getting insured with
I tried getting insured with rac recently (mainly to cover theft) and they told me if my boat doesn't have a gov approved immobilizer they wouldn't insure me. This is for a 13grand boat that sits on a trailer behind locked gates most of the year. I asked them how the fu%k is an immobiliser on my boat supposed to stop it from being stolen as it sits on the trailer 99% of the time? I wouldn't recommend rac, bunch of retards. Nautilus or club marine get my vote

RAC-I tried getting a quote
RAC-I tried getting a quote also-from memory no online quote like the others and it took nearly 3 weeks to provide it.
Just jumped back on their website to do a quote-even though where it asks "moored penned or trailed" and Ive selected trailed, it wont submit without an address and postcode of the "yatchclub or marina where penned"
Ive got both my cars with RAC-but Im a bit wary with using a non-specialty marine insurer
