Hey guys and girls just curious about what company you all go to for insurance on the tub? Just been handed over the reigns of the family vessel but she's not insured Also wondering if anyone has an idea of cost, it's a 8.6m Ali with a new 6.2mpi merc prob worth somewhere from 35 to 45 k! Thanks in advance as I wouldn't know where to start!

Just be careful with club marine as their "contents" doesn't cover anything unless you have a specific locked up area on the boat. I recently found
this out the hard way.

Have been with both SGIO and Club Marine, however only had the one claim (knock on wood) and that was with Club Marine. Had water in the fuel tank and lines and that damaged the motor which had an $800 repair bill and needed to be towed in by Sea Rescue. Personally I didn't think CM would cover it after reading their handbook but to my surprise they did and was very pleased. Probably a 4 week turn around though from accident to having the boat back again in my driveway.
Still with them now for my current boat.

Ive been with club marine
Ive been with club marine for years. Theres afew benifits lve found that are good.
You get bonus points for claim free years. Which gives you a excess only claim once over certain points which wont affect your premium. The other is theres platium club marine dealers like chivers. They process everything. No need to make contact with the insurance company. I claimed for a damaged bimini, frame and clears. Had the whole thing replaced better than before for the cost of the excess. Hassel free.

Sgio
Was insured with club marine. 25 years 1 very small claim (559) they screwed me over big time.Joke. Plus you need evaluation every few years. Sgio cheaper than any I found . No crap to get insured by them. No fine print . Good luck

I was with Nautilus, the Freo office were great, very helpful.
Then they changed Underwriters, I rang for some assistance and unknowingly ended up speaking to Melbourne where a senior lady proceeded to tell me stuff that was "in the PDS" but wasnt able to point out where. And also that the WA office will be getting a call and "pulled into line".
From there I switched to RAC where I have my cars.
Never claimed from either so you'd think Naughtylus would have been a little more friendly.
For asking several times where it said I could not change layup months after doing it on a few occasions over the previous 6 years, I was informed that they my business wasnt a priority for them.

I'm with Trident, based in Mount Hawthorn. They mainly do marine insurance and have been fairly good so far. I've had one claim relating to trailer which was handled very well.

Trident does not require boat Cond Report,
They just need recent photos and they insure for your fixed value, so this saves you the $150 on the cond. report and the hassle of getting your boat down to the dealer for a few days to get this done. Club marine require a Condition report for Boat, and trailer if you have one.
Trident also allow you to park your boat in the driveway without been behind locked gates.
They don't slug you with a club fee you did not realise you needed to pay for the magazine..
Once off Annual fee, and MT Hawthorne office as above and great service so far..

Im with Nautilus and a few
Im with Nautilus and a few months back had my boat cleaned out by some opportunistic individuals. In total the repair, replacement bill ran to about $17k. Everything was replaced new or upgraded model Lowrance Gen 2 to Lowrance Gen 3 for example. Items like esky, ipod, lifejackets replaced no questions asked without receipts. Very pleased with response time and attitude and great help through difficult period. Only cost to me was insurance premium.

RAC
Have done shopping around and RAC were the best for my tub with a similar value to what you are trying to insure. $460/year. you have to itemise the things you want insured.
