Boat ramp car park damage witness
Submitted by mullinz on Sun, 2014-06-15 19:00
Came back from a great days fishing to find the rear end of my 12 month old EZ Loader trailer had been smashed into. Luckily there was a note on my windscreen from a very nice witness saying they saw a guy hit the trailer get out look at the damage on my trailer looked at his trailer saw no damage laughed got back in his car and moved to another spot.
Now if I report it to the police and have the witness sign a stat dec can I claim it on my boat insurance without having to pay an excess?? Really annoying!!! I would of just fixed it myself and asked for him to chip in for the parts if he'd left a note. Now I'll let the insurance company deal with it and hopefully he gets stung with a big bill!

Bugger
Bet he damaged your built-in reverse camera, scratched your alloys, busted your Picasso, and removed a few kilos of its protective gold coating

Just need a Licence plate
Just need a Licence plate number and any other details possible and won't need to pay any excess, a similar thing happened to my car and a work collegue took down details of the car that did it. Didn't cost me a cent in excess. The insurance company can track down the owner by the licence plate.

Well apparently according to
Well apparently according to Club Marine I have to pay my excess and I only receive it back if they are able to recover the cost of the damage by the offender. This is absolute bullsh%t because if I repair it myself I could do it a lot cheaper than taking it to get professionally repaired and I'm now taking a punt on whether they will be able to recover any funds. My excess is $500.
Very negative feedback about club marine insurance. I'll be changing my policy and suggest others do the same.

Well thankfully the owner of
Well thankfully the owner of the other vehicle got in contact and we settled it without having to go through insurance. Apparently it was his friend driving and didn't tell him he'd hit another trailer. He was very nice and apologetic. My faith in people doing the right thing is renewed!

I did a lot of shopping around when renewal came up and found RAC to be all over the best cover.
