Braid and Leader for 5-10kg lure setup?

What's a good setup for braid and leader for 20lb spinning gear for SPs and HBs? Any particular products for the braid and leader, and also recommended leader size and length too?

Lots of braid options at 20lb. Depends how much you want to spend and how much you need. Spool size, leader and leader length will depend on what you want to catch. I'd go 20lb fluro leader, but then if you're chasing big biteys up north, or long fights, then length and strength can change.

Will be spinning in areas where likely to pick up queenies, but also over some reefy areas as well so maybe get hit by dirty fighters!

braid is braid - they all have neglible stretch: if you can notice the difference between bionic and any other braid I'll walk to sydney in a pair of thongs - I know I cant and I've used at least 10+ different braids casting lures around. I dont put much credence in their 8% stretch claim, IMO it's a bit of marketing BS. And even if it does stretch a bit, it wont be enough to make a scrap of difference to you working a s/p or h/b.
That said, I like Bionic braid, but it does colour fade when it gets wet, a bit like the old Fireline.

I'd go 30lb braid
Any reputable brand such as Sunline, Daiwa TD Sensor, fins etc etc will be fine. I have a similar set up on a twin power 4000FB to target queenies etc up north. $75 should get you 200m - 300m or so on a 4000 size spool. Depends on what reel you are using I guess, but for queenies 20lb is pretty sporting, particularly in reefy areas.....
leader - 40lb is what I am using on recommendation. Flurocarbon isn't a necessary, but is nice if you wanna spend the extra coin as it is somewhat more abrasion resistant. One thing to bear in mind is that you'll get about 100m of 40lb mono for about the same price as 30 - 50m of 40lb fluro leader. Penn 10x, black magic etc are good value quality mono line. YGK is good but pricier and smaller spools offering both mono and fluro.

I'm just using twisted leaders made from 30lb mono for queenies, small trevs to 10kg etc. Casts beautifully.
Very happy with the Basshard PE2 I'm using on the reel.

Is there any truth to a statement I heard that some braid or gel spuns were rounder than others, and therefore will lay onto the spool and come off the spool better. It's going on a 4000 size spool. Also - is it worth backing the braid and put mono on before the braid?

should always have some mono backing
just enough to cover the bottom of the spool. yes braids do differ in "profile" and some are rounder.
look at bass hard compared to fireline or platypus for example.
bass hard is quality but finns is good value for money, especially up north where there is a higher probability of loosing more line due to the environment.
bionic is good as already mentioned but if you are new to braid finns is a good choice to start with and then move up to bass hard YGK etc.

I certainly wouldn't on a 4000 size spool - you wanna cram as much braid on it as you can! The braid needs something to "bite" into and stop it spinning around the spool, hence the mono backing - but you can also use a bit of electrical tape and it will do the same job. Thats what I would do personally.

thats not a bad idea as I was looking at getting a 4000 size Saragosa, but from the research the spool on the 4000 Saragosa seems way smaller than similar reels in its class.

Bionic. It's pink but its tough
I have a whole range of braids on my reels and I can't go past the bionic.
If you buy a Abu Garcia Soron, it comes with two spools, one specially designed for loading up with braid.
