burns beach and mindarie

Has anyone spent much time fishing Burns beach groyne?  What do you catch there this time of year?  What sort of rigs do you use?

Also wondering the best spot to fish in Mindarie marina.

Cheers

How do you catch the Tailor?  Unweighted mulies or float?  Or can you get away with a fixed sinker?

Maybe try poppers and stick baits

Also twisties. Moving objects will do you well if you work at them. An unweighted Mulie will do OK also if you are fishing off the rock walls. The idea of a float off the rock walls will also work well at sunrise or sunset. The problem with a float I guess is that if the Tailor go down deep you will miss them. If you are doing OK on an unweighted bait and then the Tailor go off the bite try letting the bait sink down a fair bit or just adding a little bit of weight.

If you are fishing from the beach in clear ground then a weighted patanoster will work. I use a cork above the bait to give it some floatation and action.

Skippy

Sat, 2012-07-14 11:25

Went early this morning.  Fished off the groyne and pulled up a nice skippy.  Others were catching skippy, herring, bream and wrasse (or was it a rock cod?).  Plenty of fish out there.  Went wednesday evening and didn't even get a nibble though.

Mindarie is a hit and miss

Sun, 2012-07-15 09:19

Mindarie is a hit and miss place...

I have caught from baby pinkies to sting rays in the marina but have had some big runs from the point..

Depends on if you can get your car up there but aim for the marker out there some time...

My first time i used a beach style gang set up so it layed on the floor and was getting belted by the tailor..

My next time nudda a bloody thing..

After a swell the guys go down for the big Pinkies offf the outer rock wall just after the disabled jetty...

Unweighted and weighted rigs are worth trying..Paternoster can work...

Hopefully the entrance is open for you to drive down..

Good luck

You cant drive through any more as they have blocked it off with boulders. Its no a far walk.

Worth walking for a good catch. Some paitence and beer. Mindarie is a great spot.

Mindarie has been more miss than hit for me.  When all else fails i get a feed of bream from inside the marina  along the jetty

Mindarie has been pretty fruitful for me.

Great amount of Tailor, squid aswell as herring and skippy.

You just have to choose the right timming and tide. Whether you go in the morning or night.

Much better than Burns Beach or Quinns Beach.

Just remember. Look up all of the posts on Mindarie. There you will find the decent sopts.
