Canning Bridge Fishing Platform

A mate and I were planning to head out fishing on Friday afternoon and was thinking of giving the fishing platform at Canning Bridge a go. I've never fished the platform but I have heard of a lot of people having success there. We were planning to give lures a crack until dark(cos of the blowies). I've got HB minnows like scorpions, laser pros, baby vibes... I would assume they would all be fine? And then after dark swap to bait (once the blowies go to sleep!) for bream or whatever else is biting.

A report I read recently said theres tailor and flathead about and maybe some bream? Has anyone fished there recently? And did u catch anything? (on lures or bait)

Any info is much appreciated! Thanks

Sounds like you were going for some bigger stuff ther bungeye, like bullsharks, sizeable tailor or mulloway.

the platform for many years , my take on it is the only time is an hour before the change of tide and then an hour at the most once it has turned.

The nights have allways been better than the days and yes the blowies are in plague proportions during the day light hours.

Early winter can see huge numbers of bream gathering here.

Little crabs and worms are best here if you want the big bream but other wise a packet of river prawns will do.

But rule No1 here is as little as weight as possible.

Good luck

I know this is a little unorthodox, but I'm realtively new to fishing and have only been fishing underneath Canning Bridge all the while. Have had some success catching Black Breem but I was thinking of trying out lure fishing and chasing tailor. Any advice on locations that would be good for that?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hope you're keeping well. :)

i agree with coley, the best time is an hour before and after the change of tide. When it has hit the exact change of tide, then i usually put a single hook on with a mussel either on the shell or just the guts of the mussel
