Hi guys just wondering am thinking of getting some ceiling fans vs 2 ac units has anyone had any 1st hand experience are they as good as the sales ppl say ? I know nothing beats chilled ac but how much better can/does a ceiling fan make it ?

Had ceiling fans in
my unit, ok when its muggy but when stinking hot, just hot air they stir. We haven't looked back since installing a nice reverse cycle a/c in this place we are in now. A/C all the way. Too me ceiling fans are ok in bedrooms for night time when under 28c degrees. Must agree terrible to clean.

mmm
Well I guess I do want to use them in the bedrooms mainly and maybe two in the lounge rooms as we hang out in there at night a bit ? So its not for daytime survival although I have caught myself saying to the wife back when I was in school :) oh how we age

AC for sure
Because you might accidentally high stick your fishing rods walking to the car and be in for a nasty surprise. Then it will be more fishing related than you think.

get a salt water pool and
get a salt water pool and stock it with tailor and then you can dip & cast! :-)
no really, we in a house at present that has a fan in the kitchen and aircon in the main living area, then two in the bedrooms.... WHAT a pain in the @ss the set up is.
Go ducted intellegent reverse cycle aircon, ones that you can choose which rooms you want to cool off or heat. We had that in a rental before and loved it, also not heavy on the power bill.
other issue with fans is they stir up the dust and everything gets a coating of fine dust when the air settles...cr@p for cleaning glass stuff and small items :-(

Tried them all
Had the fans in the living areas. OK when mildly humid but no good when stinking hot... now have AC.
Put the fan in the workroom (bedroom). Did get worried a few times getting close to the blades while bouncing and jumping but won't go there... no fishing rods damaged
... Made it better for a while but will be putting a small AC in there soon/before the real hot weather hits.
Got the spa out the back to cool the body down on a hot night which works well buttttttttt wakes you up so then another couple of cold beers, bourbons or whiskies to get drowzy again
Sh!t!!!! Just realised I must be getting soft in my old age.... Grew up believing that air conditioning was opening the windows
