Dhufish Recapture

Thought i'd post this up just out of interest. Dave caught one of my tagged Dhus this morning after we put the pots in, on a KG rig. Only a baby, I tagged it on the 31/3/11 at 400m and was 430mm today. Interesting growth rate compared to the recapture I had last month, that Dhu had grown 7cm in 7 months, and the fish is of similar size.

nice one I have seen the same
nice one I have seen the same thing Im guessing some fish will be off the food for longer than others after being caught, and I would think what they are eating would also play a big part in the growth rate .Had it move far or on the same spot it was tagged.

Used to aquarium fish awhile
Used to breed aquarium fish awhile ago, others who do this will also note that babies all have different growth rate and must be separated, some fish of the same age were easily double the size of the others, those fish were kept for future strong breeders, so can only imagine its the same for most fish species, weak fish were culled off.

Good luck Paul and yes Ron
Good luck Paul and yes Ron they keep surprising me at how healthy they are coming back up, my results are definitely showing that a slow retrieve and the release weight (when needed ~ 40-50% of the time) work.
