Eastbourne UK - fishing aboard Deep Blue with the Temple Reef Mytho
After the weather wrecked my fishing plans for the last 6 charter trips I'd booked, Saturday was finally our day to get on the water for my first fishing trip in the UK.
We were fishing with Steve on Deep Blue, however unfortunately the weather was still not totally playing ball, meaning the wreck jigging we'd planned was off. It was however an opportunity for me to catch my first Plaice, and pit the Temple Reef Mytho against a new species.
I'd brought my partner who is something of a fishing novice - however to the despair of others on the boat (me included!), the first fish she landed ended up being by far the biggest fish of the day. A plaice estimated at 4.5 - 5lb.
I ended up with fifteen or so plaice for the day plus some bycatch, but nothing was going to match her fish!
All in all it was a fun day - met some new people, caught some (very tasty) dinner and got to test out the gear against something new. Will definitely be back. Can't wait to get back out there and drop some jigs down to some hungry cod very very soon.
Rods used were the Temple Reef Mytho LJ-510B and the Jigging Master Evolution Titanium 150gr.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

you cant beat a plaice
and that one is a nice one, as for table quality it's hard to beat, our flounder dosent come near to a plaice in eating quality, good luck with the cod if theres any left!

If you were back in West Oz Dan
Chasing demersals with jigs say 100g-150g which would be your choice of rods out of the Mytho and the Titanium in spin though?
Nice one on getting your partner amongst it to.
Cheers.

Cheers guys, haha yeah
Cheers guys, haha yeah quadfisher I regretted that cardy that's for sure! The day before was really warm, but that day ended up being bloody freezing. Froze my ass off.
The Plaice have been tasty. Deep fried one whole, steamed another. Still got 11 left in the freezer so I hope they freeze alright.
Planning to head out with a client on his boat fishing off Rotterdam next weekend for Sea Bass. Will put up a full report, on the assumption I catch something!
Boydy - will PM you some thoughts.
