the wreck out the end of the mainland is meant to be good, just got to watch the sharks. good luck. one thing , there are lots of sanctuary areas where there are no spearing allowed

Actually the real problem with Exmouth and spearing isn't the sancturary zones, its the DEC marine reserves. Pretty much forget spearing in Exmouth once you see how big they are!

I'm guessing you'll have a boat so there's plenty of spots. Any of the islands hold trout and heaps of mackies on the lumps if you burley.
Just keep in mind spearguns are not allowed in boats south of Tantabiddi, and there's a big list of no-spear fish in the Marine Park (pretty much all demersal fish I think).
I've seen mackies, spanglies, tuna and trout shot off the marina breakwall by boatless spearos, and have speared trout myself on a lot of the Gulf reefs.
You'll find plenty of fish, especially someone who can get that bit deeper than most. My breath hold is nothing to brag about and I always brought home a feed.

I didn't think Jack had a boat, and you know I completely forgot about spearing gulf side.

When we were up, you couldn't see the end of your own spear in the gulf it was so murky!
