false/ steep report pic heavy

gday all thought I would write a report about our recent trip to false/steep.

day one
my brother staked a tyre at the water crossing while changing it we spotted some fish that turned out to be giant herring a quick rig up saw two land. got to false and set up camp then sampled a few brews ,did a quick recon to the cliff and it looked good ,back to camp to gear up and rehydrate.

day two
a quick walk throwing poppers off the reef/beach saw a few nice tailor to 3kg landed then off to the cliff.
mate and I landed a few small pinkys and some nice big silver bream and one nice baldy about 4kg for tea.
time to rehydrate and try the reef/beach again for tailor landed a nice one about 4.5 kg and missed a few others more hydration needed.

day three
quick reef/beach session saw three more tailor landed with the biggest 3 kg then to the cliff again, the swell had jacked up to about 4m and made the fishing hard but persistence payed off with half a dozen silver bream, two size pinkys and a red throat landed.
hydration time again!

day four
was somewhat hard to get going (over hydrated!)but after a long lazy bath was off for a drive to crayfish bay for a look as the swell was still pumping we did not fish. my brother went to see paul at steep to see if our camp spot was vacant and we packed up and moved to shelter bay to rehydrate and set up a new camp.

day five
tinnys in and off fishing couldn't work out why the tinny was laboring, anyway first spot dropped in nailed two nice baldys. then get up the front you blokes were sinking , high tailed it at 3 knots back to camp, tinny out and two cracks found where someone has used two tek screws to fix a loose skid on the trailor??? f**%k!! off to see paul and 4 hours later return to camp with a patched up tinny ,rehydrate time!!!!

day six
check the sika has cured and tinny in and not a drop so off fishing and what a day bagged out with our quota of baldys to 7kg two honey comb cod three pinkys and a nice estery cod .lets hydrate!!!!
day seven in the tinny and fishing landed two nice baldys two pinkys and then furgyl followed us around for the rest of the day. getting fed up with feeding up the sharks we went in and sampled a few coldies.

day eight
into the tinny and off fishing managed four baldies with two being about 4kg and two pinkys the sharks were every where we went. back to camp to rehydrate and start packing for our departure in the morning.

all in all it was one of the better trips I have done to the area with good company and good weather and fishing.

the damage
one staked tyre, two cracks in my mates tinny, one spare tyre holder broken off boat trailer, one number plate lost, trailor lights on one tinny not working, two wheel bearings changed at dongera on the way home, one small chest freezer no longer works, my mates eskymate freezer no longer works and the sd card with all the footage and photos from my gopro packed it in!also blew up a saltist 50h trying to muscle a shark. we have had smooth sailing the last few trips but just unlucky this time round.

I can assure you all prekorshuns were taken and we had a blast cant wait for next year!!
ps a big thanks to paul for the use of his tools and for letting us cut the ass out of the old tinny he had there.

 Nice report and photos

Nice report and photos nackers!! Any pics of the tailor coz a 4.5kg would have a tilt at the FW record sitting at 89cm. I caught a 3.6kg up there and it went 83cm so hopefully you got some snaps of it.

not as far as we would of liked mate we mainly fished out the front of steep to 48m.
we have a few marks deeper but couldn't get there cause of conditions not being right so safety first.
but there is plenty of good fish to be caught if you know where to look and think outside the square
