Fiji Fishing Charter in June
Submitted by Iceman on Mon, 2014-05-05 14:24
Heading to Fiji middle of June and staying at Mana Island for my daughters wedding. Only one opreator from the island and organising half day (4hour) sports fishing (trolling) charter.
Anyone have any idea what we may catch this time of year and will 4 hours be long enough for 6 people?
Trying to keep cost down and not be too tired for wedding the next day. Full day is 8 hours

June is generally one of the better months in Fiji for Wahoo , getting a bit late for Mega huge Yellow fin bust ups , but are allways a chance tho..

I did a 4hr trip out from musket cove and that was enough in a 3m swell and 20kts. That was October and still managed tuna and dollies. I took the smaller boat and they wouldn't allow me to go outside the outer reef, so just make sure you're clear on what you can and can't do before you book it. I think mana island is actually closer to the fishing grounds. Don't waist your time with reef species (coral trout ect.) as it's not the best location for it, instead get out amongst the schools of busting fish and chase the pelagics. Be very clear you don't count barracuda as fish!
