Fishwrecked 1st Birthday
Fishwrecked.com has just had its first birthday. This time last year we had just returned from our first Exmouth trip with many tales of success. I had decided to write my first article for another W.A fishing magazine which didn't work out, so I decided that I would make my own fishing website.
With the assistance of my mate Sam we went to work on creating something unique that might catch people's attention. After two solid weeks we had the basis of something to work with and still had plenty of bugs and problems to work out. That Thursday night we all sat down and threw names about as to what it would be called until Gribbo came up with fishwrecked, and so it was born.
The next month I began writing simple columns, reports and any information I could find that would be relevant and catch people’s attention and within a month we were starting to see results. During this time Sam had begun learning search engine optimisation (SEO) techniques and I was spreading the word amongst other community fishing sites. By December the final SEO techniques were online and our newest fishing video 'Honsu's Hookups' hit the web to instant success. Since then there has been no looking back with most days having around 500 hits from all different countries all over the world.
I would like to thank a few people that have helped fishwrecked.com along in its first year of operation.
1) The fishing community here: The 'Pilbra' Pirates, Spooled and the Hedland boys, Andy Mac, Flywest, Terry Fuller and Josh Bruynz for being the first person to set up a gallery and send in videos to name a few. I'd like to thank everyone else who has become a part of the site and got onboard. I may not have mentioned your name but it certainly doesn't mean I don't appreciate your contributions.
2) Sam - Without your tech experience I couldn't have got this site to anywhere near what it is, cheers buddy.
3) Mark and Gribbo and the boys - For being good mates and helping me out to make this site more informative and entertaining, oh and being top fishing companions.
4) Bolts - I'd like to thank the skipper of the fishwrecked mothership for helping support me try and get this site off the ground and make something of it over the last year, be it providing video or sneaking in a few hours of fishing before having to head into work. Cheers mate.
Its been a top year, the site now has over 1715 photo's online, 52 videos, 308 members and 602 forum topics.

In closing, I'd like to thank everyone who has become a part of the fishwrecked community and I'd like to invite anyone else out there viewing to join up and be a part of it.

I recon your up in the top 3/4 WA based sites and that puts you guys right at the top of any fishing site list .
No slagging , flaming etc on here only good honest fishing talk and friendships , thanks for the great welcome and I will certainly be adding to the pics and video in the near future.

Congrats on the 500 user points Andy. I created a trial user account the other day to re-adjust the welcoming message, on deletion saw another 860 points disappear, 3rd time I've done it with about that much. :(
Its pretty late notice for a party, maybe next Friday would be easier to gather a few more numbers? Thinking Wembley or Floreat pub?

Count me in! Actually thinking of heading north next year. Don't know about having two Gallash's in such close proximity, could be dangerous. Definately going to come up for a fishing trip, still gotta break the barra virginity yet.
Depends how good the pics are Mav. Be keen to see a few more sambo photos to get the jigging amp going. Keep the drinks on the cards, if not we'll find another reason to catch up for a few.

EXXY in may
I'm thinking of getting some guys together and towwing my tub up EXXY in may next year , if anyone else is interested give us a hoy and we could plan something .
Thinking of a week in a house up there.
There is a house in the paper for EXXY for $900 pw approx and you get a boat as well, anyone know what sort of boat comes with the house.

Sheesh that isn't half bad. Wouldn't expect it to be much more than a tinny thou, but you just never know if you never go.
I'm thinking of going up a bit earlier next year, would love to fish gamex - not for the competition side of things but purely for the fact its when the pelagics seem to be about in really good numbers. I think its mid March, but not exactly sure, all pipe dreams at the moment, but it just has to be done one of these years.
Out of interest, what tub you got Mav?

Even a tinny, would be good to take people and gear up to the peir , would save the legs from that looooonnnnggggg slog from the car park.
I would love to go earlier BUT , lawns don't stop growwing till may , I plan all my hols in my off season ( May to Oct).
Thats why I wont be decking on SHIKARI in summer , only week ends and the odd day off.
My tub is a Regent , Viking .
I will post a pic of it for ya , got a Lawrance LMS330 gps/ colour sounder in it as well, old boat but had it given to me when the old man died , he took it around Aust fishing twice so it can handle any water , the 70 merc was getting long in the tooth so I put the Yammy 4 stroke on it , maybe 30 knots on a good day but I ain't into speed , rather troll out to the fishing grounds watching the sounder as I go .
I'll go pull the cover off it and take a pic for ya.

Yep, next Friday it is, today wasn't quite enough notice for everyone.

1 year old. Well done adam and the crew that helped get the site up and running. It has to be one of the best if not the best fishing forum going. no slagging. just good fishing info .
as far as exxie next year. My rubber arms are easily twisted. just be cautious of those big willy willies before may. they can certainly put a downer on things. Have just been to exmouth for a mates bday. rented a house right in town. 1000 bucks for the week and it slept 10, with a few swaggs as well rolled out on the lounge room floor i think there was 13 people sleeping in the house. Also a small below ground pool in the back yard. Bloody good value if theres half a dozen twisted fishers paying there way.
