HELP

Hello folks,

THis is my first forum.

Im a FIFO chef in the karratha region, I have a new found love for fishing and after 3 months of being let down i finally have the opportunity to go out on a 5m boat around the dampier archipelago, thing is i only get 1 day off per month so after so many disappointments id really love to catch some good fish (i dont want to fish the open dry just want a good feed for me and a few fish eating friends) and with only haviing 1 day off per month and not knowing the area i was wondering if any 1 will give u some good spots for me to fish on around the archipelago GPS co ordinates would be great and i promise noot to pass them on.

Grab yourself a magazine called the " North Australian Fish Finder " - full of photo's and gps coordinates - just ask at your newsagent and they can get it for you.

Best bet would be to head to "The patch" where mackies are usually abundant.  If you cant catch a mackie there, the bloody sharks must have killed them all.  Just head out past Nelson Rocks and look for the birds freeding.

On the way back, head over to the pipeline and you should be able to pick up a couple trout and some blue lined emperors.

Winter time is squid season.  There are a few around ATM, but will get better in the next couple months.  Shelterred waters behind any island will hold squid.

Follow the shiping channel

Follow the shiping channel out to the ocean.  There are some rocks called Nelson rocks on the left as you go past the last of the islands.

Head north west a few kms past Nelson Rocks and there are bound to be massive flocks of birds, diving onto schools of tuna and mackerel.  If you have a GPS with map on it, the "Patch" is an obvious lump on the ocean floor.

just found it on my phone, navionics     20 24.38s     116 37.83e       It is no secret spot, there is usually half a dozen boats working it.  Works best for mackies on the bigger tides.  There will be sharks, so dont piss fart around for too long landing your fish.  Some nice cobia around too at times.  wack on a couple laser pros with wire trace and go for it.
