help with reel choice

ive been tasked with buying an outfit for a mate who is coming to sharkbay with me later this year.

im looking for a 5000/6000 size shimano and really impressed with the new stradics. but how would go for casting lures and retreiving bibbed lures?

the other option is the biomaster sw.

the only reason i ask is one year i brought a 4000 twinpower for this occassion and teh reel did not have enough power when working the lures - not mentioning when an angry mackie is on the other end

is the only option haha. For a budget fisherman and a super strong reel, fin nor offshore spin reels are probably pound for pound just as strong as any top end reel ( i abuse the fin nor i have at work ). Massive difference in quality obviously like the fin nor is probably the clunkiest reel i have ever used but the 5000 size is capable of 28kg of drag which you will never use. Pair it with a decent rod and you wont go wrong. Go have a look at one and wind the handle forward and backwards, you will see what i mean. They hold plenty of line too.

The 7500 i have at work pulls in 35kg tuna without batting an eyelid. Never washed it and running pe10 braid about 400m of it

If shimano is what you are after then get Spheros or Saragosa in that order if you can't afford Stella

budget is around 300 odd...

the spheros are all low geared, so saragosa is probably the way to go.

but the stradic or biomaster weight looks so ideal...

The Stradic FK and the

The Stradic and the Saragosa retail at the same price, Biomaster at $80-120 more.  Twice as much for the Twin Power, 3-4 times for the Stella (ouch!).

If the gear ratios between Stradic/Saragosa/Biomaster are similar, I'd say go for the one that balances best on your rod.
