A mate has just commenced a teaching post in Karratha.
He keeps bugging me to tow the boat up and go fishing......no need to twist my arm!!
Whats the best time of year for weather as I have a 4.6 CC custom ali boat. Willing to explore all fishing options.
Cheers in advance for the information

Bit south
Not quite a member of the Karratha Crew but April holidays (especially if your mates a chalkie) would be the go.

hmmmmmm i wouldnt waste your time july time mate, mark is right there is good fishing all year round however easterlies are genrally howling in june july august. You do get the odd window of great weather but chances are it will be howling
ok easter and september (much the same as exxy) are probably your best chance of some flat seas. Saying that there is always the chance it may blow up if your unlucky
either way mate, you can always find something to do, somewhere to hide.
But april and september are probably your best months from a wind perspective

Islands
Haven't fished in Karratha Brad, bit I suppose you can always find an island to hide behind.
September was shocking down here last year.

easter is the go if you can do it
yeah your right john it was, but we had a very late start to summer as well, so ended up with the good winds in october. I remember one day adam and i were cruising up the coast from samson and it was literally a mill pond and crustal clear, the best ever i have seen for october. Typically the good period in the past has been september. but then there is always the BUT factor
If i had to pick the best time it would most certainly be EASTER!!!!!!! always pretty good with the season change.
some pics of that october trip last year

Easter is definately the
Easter is definately the pick.
Generaly bad easterlies start around winter but if you have a late season (so to speak) we've had great windows of good weather in June/July.
September/october much the same as the cooler months, mostly windy with small windows.
Summer is extremely risky for the travelling angler, with cyclones that can spring up out of nowhere and shut the fishing down for weeks. In the quiet period between cyclones though it can be quite good.
I agree with John though, if I couldn't fish at easter my next choice would be June/July holidays... then september.
