Silver Sands
Sorry to hijack, but I just moved to Mandurah back in November, after a few years in the east. I've been fishing the beach at Silver Sands fairly regularly for 3 months now, (I live 50 metres away from it), but all I've managed is shovels, banjos, blowies and the occasional crab - am I wasting my time fishing here? I'd much rather walk across the road and fish locally, but starting to think I may have to bite the bullet and drive to San Remo or Golden Bay or somewhere...or am I just unlucky?

Silver Sands
I've spent most of my time fishing straight off the end Merle Street, have found the deeper sections there, also tried straight off Adonis Road, seems a bit deeper but had heaps of weed problems there. Probably my biggest problem is getting the baits smashed up by crabs and blowies. Anyone got any tips for fishing this beach? A mate of mine told me I'm wasting my time fishing it, and I'm starting to believe him! I've switched to yellowtail for bait, they last a bit longer than mulies, and I'm going to try some corks to float them off the bottom a bit more...
Any tips on targetting bronzies would be appreciated, too!

Can't help ya with the weed
Can't help ya with the weed or bait pickers. Try closer to the off a hole or gutter, weed seems to settle at the bottom of trenchs and holes unless a good current flowing through. Bait pikers will hang where there is some sort of shelter to hide.
Try live bait most pickers will leave them alone, floats do help.
DON'T GIVE UP YOU ARE ON A MISSION YOU WILL PROVE YA MATE WRONG
Old fishermen never die they just smell that way.

Perthnow are saying some
Perthnow are saying some nice mulloway have come from S/S beach - all the locals I've spoken to have told me nothing gets caught here...given my success rate here I tend to agree with the locals! Might wander up to San Remo and try there in future
